The New York Yankees had a miserable game on Monday night on the road against the Chicago White Sox. New York lost 12-2 as a usually futile Chicago offense came alive against the "Bronx Bombers." Chicago's offense had the best game of their season as they mustered a season in hits with 18 and doubles with 7.

New York kept the game close until everything unraveled for them in the bottom of the seventh inning when the White Sox put up seven runs. The New York Yankees, as great as they have been this season, are no stranger to getting blown out. Last night was the third time this season that they have lost by 10+ runs. The New York Yankees lost 17-5 to the Baltimore Orioles on June 20 and 12-2 on June 26 against the New York Mets. Will the New York Yankees be able to recover from being soundly defeated and play well over the home stretch of the 2024 regular season?

New York(70-50) has been great this season. They are half a game back of the Baltimore Orioles for the lead in the American League East and have the fifth-best record in Major League Baseball. The Yankees have been led by a great offense this season. They are ninth in batting average, second in home runs, and second in runs scored. Their offense is paced by Center Fielder Aaron Judge and Right Fielder Juan Soto. Judge is second in the league in batting average and is leading the league in home runs, RBI, and OPS. Soto is top-10 in the league in batting average, home runs, RBI, and OPS.

The pitching staff of the New York Yankees has also been great this season. They are ninth in the league in ERA, sixth in strikeouts, and ninth in opposing batting average. Their staff is led by Starting Pitcher Carlos Rodon is tied for the league lead with 13 wins. Luis Gil is top-20 in the league in in wins, ERA, and strikeouts. Closer Clay Holmes is also tied for fifth in the league with 25 saves.

New York has been one of the league's most consistent teams over the last decade but has been unable to break through as they are searching for their first World Series win since 2009.
