Cleveland Browns Rookie Defensive Tackle Arrested

The Cleveland Browns new defensive tackle was arrested Tuesday following a domestic violence dispute on Monday night. Hall was arrested in Avon, Ohio after allegedly threatening a woman with a gun Monday night, according to a police report. The rookie defensive tackle was drafted by the Browns in the 2024 NFL Draft. He was the 54th pick by the Browns in the second round. Hall has not even started his NFL career and it has quickly come to an end.

Cleveland Browns Defensive Tackle Michael Hall Jr. Arrested Tuesday

Mike Hall Jr. was arrested Tuesday following an incident with his finances on Monday night. A domestic abuse call came into the 911 dispatch by the finance mother stating Hall had pushed her daughter and hit her with a baby bottle. The incident report alleges that Hall attempted to force the woman out of the front door and later dragged her on her back across the front porch and to the end of the driveway. The report says that Hall later followed her into a room with a handgun and pressed the gun against her temple, “I will f—ing end it all. I don’t care.”

Hall’s finance told police that Hall and her share an 11-month-old baby together. She reported that the incident happened over a discussion on the financial needs of her daughter in a different relationship. According to the police report, the woman said that Hall screamed at her to leave the house, grabbed her by the feet, and dragged her back down the driveway. Hall left the house before the authorities arrived. The police found two handguns, a .40 caliber Glock and a 9mm Smith & Wesson, on a mattress. The incident report said police found damage in the house that was consistent with the woman’s story.

The Cleveland Browns issued a statement Tuesday morning saying they are aware of the situation and that Hall representatives have been in touch with the team. The Browns said they’re in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time. The Browns selected Hall in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. He is a native of the Cleveland area, Hall went to school at Streetsboro High School before going to Ohio State where he played three seasons.

NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said in a statement “We have been in contact with the club regarding the matter, which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy.” The NFL code of conduct does not tolerate domestic violence. A player who commits these crimes is subject to discipline, if a player is not convicted but is engaged in any domestic violence matter are subject to discipline.

Any player arrested or charged with violent or threatening conduct that would violate this Policy will be offered a formal clinical evaluation and appropriate follow-up education, counseling, or treatment program, the cost of which will be paid by the league. Ever since the Ray Rice domestic violence incident, this policy has been put into place incident. Since NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has taken over the league the first domestic violence incident against a player is a six-game suspension, a second domestic violence incident will result in a lifetime ban from the NFL.

The NFL has had multiple players with domestic violence charges and incidents in the past with not only the Cleveland Browns but other teams around the NFL. The NFL conducts and gathers all the information that has happened in all of the incidents before deciding a player’s fate. Not all players come back to the NFL after any charges are filed against them.
