Matthew Perry Death Investigation: 5 People Charged

    User-posted content

The Matthew Perry death investigation has resulted in more arrests! On Thursday, August 15th, the news dropped that five people involved with the actor’s death had been handed down on official charges. As they say, keep your friends close and your ketamine chaos closer. We lost Perry far too soon, and we need accountability for the people involved with his untimely passing. Find out about how we lost one of America’s favorite actors and the people being arrested over his untimely death below.

    The Accidental Overdose

Perry passed away on October 28, 2023, at 54 years old. He was not responsive when he was found in his jacuzzi. The manner of death was ruled an accident at the time, and he passed away from the effects of ketamine. He had contributing factors like other drugs in his system, coronary heart disease, and, of course, drowning. Had he not overdosed on ketamine, he would still likely be here today. You are deeply missed, Chandler! The Matthew Perry death investigation is being taken seriously by law enforcement.

    5 Arrests Made

There are two lead defendants currently in the case, meaning they are in the hot seat when it comes to accountability. Jasveen Sangha, who is known as the “Ketamine Queen” in California, and Dr. Salvador Plasencia, a physician at an urgent care facility in Malibu Canyon, have been arrested. Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s live-in assistant, was also arrested. Eric Fleming allegedly distributed the ketamine to Iwamasa and is being charged too. Last but not least, Dr. Mark Chavez is also facing charges for the conspiracy to distribute ketamine.

Sangha is facing some of the stiffest charges: she received one for maintaining a premises that is drug-involved; she also had one charge of possessing both ketamine and methamphetamine with the intent to distribute; and lastly, she had five counts of distributing ketamine. Her alleged partner-in-crime, Dr. Plascencia, is facing seven charges of distributing the dangerous substance, as well as two counts of falsifying and altering evidence in the form of records and documents that were related to the investigation.

Dr. Plasencia sent upsetting text messages to Dr. Chavez when he called Perry a “moron” and wanted to know how much money the actor would be willing to pay for ketamine. That language feels particularly disheartening when considering how little they valued the man they allegedly helped to kill. Chavez helped Plasencia obtain ketamine allegedly in different ways, alarmingly by once submitting a fraudulent prescription for the substance that one of the doctors current patients was unaware of and did not receive. Dr. Plasencia also taught Perry’s personal assistant how to administer the drugs and provided him with a supply of the substance, allegedly.

This was particularly problematic considering Mr. Iwimasa does not have any medical training on how to safely administer drugs or how to monitor Perry to make sure he was okay after being injected. Iwimasa worked together with Plasencia, Sangha, and Fleming. Fleming is allegedly a distributor of substances, including the 50 vials he had given to Perry’s assistance. Fleming worked directly with Jasveen Sangha. Ms. Sangha told Fleming to delete all of their messages when the news of the death of Matthew Perry hit the news. Too little, too late.

Next Steps of Matthew Perry Death Investigation

The Matthew Perry death investigation is ongoing and still developing. We do know that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the United States Postal Service (USPS) are working together to determine how Perry was able to get so much ketamine in his system. The fate of the five charged will also play out in the future in court.

Our lead defendant and ketamine queen is facing 10 to life, while her fellow lead defendant, Dr. Plasencia, is currently looking at over 100 years of jail time. Dr. Chavez is allegedly considering a plea agreement and could be facing 10 years in the slammer. Perry’s personal assistant is looking at 15 years, and the alleged ketamine distributor Fleming is possibly facing 25 years.
