2024 NBA Schedule Release Brings Mixed Emotions to Players and Fans

On the “dog days” of the offseason, post-draft, and free agency, there’s not much to look forward to this time of year in the NBA. With many teams mostly set, players and coaches are enjoying the last few weeks of vacation and time with their families before training camp begins. The one exciting thing left for the fans is the 2024 NBA schedule release for the new season.

Although the 2024 NBA schedule release may not be as exciting as the NFL schedule, it is still interesting and somewhat dramatic for all teams and many fans. You get to see which teams will be playing on opening night and many of the other more significant days of the NBA season. Another unveiled in the schedule release is which of the most popular teams and the league’s more significant players will be playing nationally televised games.

Let the Games Begin

The NBA season will begin on October 22nd with a doubleheader on TNT, featuring two very entertaining games. In the Easter Conference, we begin with the New York (Nova) Knicks taking on the defending champion, the Boston Celtics. The Minnesota Timberwolves take on the Los Angeles Lakers in the nightcap to conclude a very entertaining opening night of Basketball.

One of the most intriguing storylines of any year’s schedule release is who will match up on Christmas Day. Christmas Day games in the NBA have always been one of the NBA’s most anticipated days, where some of the most significant memories are created. The Christmas Day games are always filled with five good matchups of the league’s most prominent teams and players. Once again, as it has many seasons in the past, LeBron James and Stephen Curry will headline this year’s games, as the Los Angeles Lakers will travel to the Bay area to take on the Warriors.

2024 NBA Schedule for Christmas Day

Maybe the most intriguing storyline of this Christmas day is who isn’t on the scheduled slate of Christmas Day games. No Milwaukee Bucks game is on the card, leaving one of the game’s top players, Giannis Antetokumpo, at home, watching. Hours after the new schedule dropped, Giannis tweeted two laughing emojis in reaction to his team getting snubbed out of the opportunity to play on Christmas Day.

The Bucks won the NBA title in the 2021 season, and Giannis has won 2 league MVP awards. The Bucks have been one of the most prominent teams over the past five seasons and again come in as one of the contending teams to win the Eastern Conference. They also have 6-time all-star Damian Lillard, one of the more exciting guards to watch play in the NBA. With that tremendous 1-2 punch and the fact that the Bucks are one of the most relevant teams, it is hard to believe they won’t be in action on Christmas Day.

The 2024 NBA schedule says the most about the NBA: there is so much talent across the league. Everyone wants to see so many good teams and talented players; it almost feels like somebody has to be left off. This year, with how good of a player Victor Wembanyama has become in such a short period of time, it almost feels as if he and the Spurs may have taken the spot away from Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Exciting Times Ahead for 2024 NBA Season

There is a lot to look forward to and many more great storylines to come in the 2024 season. With all the new players on new teams, the battle at the Eastern Conference’s top will be much more interesting this season. It will again be anyone’s game in the loaded Western Conference, as about 12 out of the 15 teams look like they could be very competitive. Be ready! The NBA is going to be a fun season in 2024.
