The first round of Premier League fixtures ends with the Monday match between promoted side Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur. The Foxes topped the Championship last season under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, but with Steve Cooper now at the helm, it will be an uphill battle to avoid the drop.

Tottenham had an explosive start to last season before falling away drastically at the end of the season. Manager Ange Postecoglou has strengthened the team with new signings who are available for Monday's game. Will any of them make my best DFS plays for the game?

Pedro Porro– D ($12,300 DK)

The full-back positions are important in the Ange Postecoglou system, with Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie having licenses to get forward. We are still determining if Udogie will start, as he only recently returned from surgery that ruled him out at the end of last season. Porro is available and is arguably the better fantasy option between both full-backs.

In his 35 appearances, Porro scored three goals, had seven assists, and made 50 key passes across last season. Along with his defensive stats, he averaged 6.4 fantasy points per game. It would have been much higher if Tottenham's season hadn't capitulated down the stretch.

Leicester could be without strikers Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka, with Vardy netting 20 times last season. The Foxes have a 40% chance of scoring, and if both are forced to miss the game, that could decrease, meaning a solid chance of a clean sheet for Spurs. Even without the clean sheet, Porro can build up attacking points in the game.

James Maddison– M ($10,600 DK)

James Maddison is the majority shareholder of set pieces when he's fit. He is refreshed and ready for the new season after surprisingly missing out on the England squad for the Euros.

When Maddison is playing at his best, it is hard to stop him from being involved in the game. In 28 appearances last season, he had 13 goal involvements (four goals and nine assists). With his hot streak at the start of last season, he averaged 15.7 fantasy points per game.

Son Heung-Min– M/F ($10,800 DK)

Picking a DFS slate that involves Tottenham and not selecting Son Heung-Min is asking for trouble. Son was a high percentile player in goals (17), assists (10), and shots on target (38) during the 2023/24 season.

He averaged 14.7 fantasy points last season and is one of the first names on the Spurs team sheet. With the signing of Dominic Solanke, Son should play from the left as he did with Harry Kane. If the South Korean can emulate those performances, he is a shoo-in for DFS.

Stephy Mavididi– F ($7,600 DK)

Stepy Mavididi will have a bigger weight on his shoulders regarding the Leicester attack if Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka miss out on Monday. Mavididi scored 12 goals and had six assists as the Foxes were crowned the 2023/24 Championship champions. The winger's not guaranteed to start, with new signee Bobby De Cordova-Reid pushing to start. With Reid at $7,000 in DraftKings, it's an easy swap out, as both will be focal points in the Leicester attack.

Facundo Buonanotte– M ($7,400 DK)

A new signing of a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, Facundo Buonanotte is a talented young prospect. The Argentinian is not guaranteed to start, but he could, with Leicester having numerous injury concerns.

Buonanotte played in 27 games last season, mainly due to Brighton having major injuries across the team. The 19-year-old performed well, scoring three goals and assisting once. He only managed 5.0 fantasy points per game but averaged just 51 minutes per game. Buonanotte could be a wild card selection if he starts.
