Why Ghost of Tsushima is the Best RPG

Ghost of Tsushima is an Open-World RPG released on July 17, 2020, as a PlayStation exclusive. Sucker Punch Productions developed it and it was later released on May 16, 2024, for PC. This RPG is set in feudal Japan, and players play the character of Jin Sakai, a Samurai risking his honor and rules to protect the Japanese people from invading Mongol forces. It is an extremely good game capable of being called the best RPG.

Gameplay

The map of Ghost of Tsushima is divided into three regions, with each region being unlocked after players have progressed the story enough. Each region looks pretty unique but has the same gameplay features. There are various objectives in the open world that the players can do apart from the story missions.

There are specific questlines that follow the stories of the major NPCs in the game. There are also a lot of Mongol captive territories that players must infiltrate and defeat the leader of that territory. Once the territory has been claimed it clears up the fog on the map and more nearby quest markers and activities are appeared. These include Fox Dens, Bamboo Strikes, and many more.

Combat

The combat of Ghost of Tsushima focuses on a Sword duel with a touch of archery. There are four stances that players can unlock eventually. Each stance is effective against a certain type of enemy. One stance is effective against Sword users, one against Spear users, one against Shielded enemies, and one against Brute enemies.

The combat of the game also focuses heavily on deflect and parries, with a perfect parry being extremely satisfying to pull off. There are also certain attacks that players must dodge and can't be parried. There are also various tools like Kunai, Smoke Bombs, and Wind Chimes that players can use to their advantage. The game also provides an option of Stealth, adding variety to the gameplay.

Story

The story follows the character of Jin Sakai along with the Samurai army on the Tsushima island. After facing a devastating defeat at the hands of Mongol leader Khotun Khan, the uncle of Jin Sakai is captured and Jin injured.

Trying his best to free his uncle and save the Japanese people from ruthless Mongols, Jin finds unexpected allies. With the help of his newfound allies, Jin fights against the Mongol army, leading him to a path that forces him to betray his Samurai code. It is an extremely captivating and emotional story with one of the best endings in all of gaming.

Open-World

The open world of Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most beautiful in any RPG. The setting of a war-torn Feudal Japan, where blood is being shed yet flowers are in full bloom is immersive. From a gameplay perspective, the wide world is not filled with tedious chores and tasks. Exploring the open world is enjoyable and a sight to see. Whether it be the snowy mountaintops or the fields of beautiful white flowers, no doubt that Ghost of Tsushima has one of the best open worlds.
