Dricus Du Plessis Fires Back at Alex Pereira's Warning

Dricus du Plessis completely dominated Israel Adesanya in UFC 305. He also dominated Sean Strickland before defeating the great African fighter, Izzy. However, Strickland did not accept the defeat against Du Plessis. They fought in UFC 297, and Strickland became the dethroned titleholder.

Dricus's next fights are against Strickland and Alex Pereira. Strickland and his coach believe that they never lost the belt and that they are going to reclaim it very soon. Pereira has recently warned Dricus, making Alex the biggest threat to the Titleholder du Plessis.

Alex Pereira's Reaction to UFC 305

Right after Dricus du Plessis made Israel Adesanya submit with a rear-naked choke in the fourth round of the UFC 305 main event, Alex Pereira posted a picture on social media.

The photo showed him in front of the post-fight celebration, with a caption that read, “Coming down to 185 one more time,” accompanied by his usual serious expression. Pereira, who used to be the UFC middleweight champion, moved up to the 205-pound division after losing to Adesanya in their rematch in 2023.

Alex Pereira Coming Back to 185

Since then, Pereira hasn't lost a fight. His next one is at UFC 307, where he'll fight Khalil Rountree Jr. in the main event. If Pereira is thinking about returning to the middleweight division, Du Plessis is ready for the challenge, but he's pretty sure Pereira won’t like how it turns out.

"I honestly don’t think Alex Pereira should drop down to 185. If he wants to, great, perfect. But then we’re going to hear the excuses. I saw Izzy stiff that man in the first round. I felt Izzy’s punching power tonight. Izzy has great timing, he’s fast, he’s long and he has great combinations, but I felt the power."

Dricus du Plessis not Interested in Alex

To be clear, Dricus Du Plessis isn’t aiming for a light heavyweight title and isn’t trying to become the next fighter to hold titles in two different weight classes. Instead, the South African prefers to defeat every challenger in his current weight class rather than move up to 205 pounds for a fight that doesn’t make much sense to him right now.

However, if the UFC wants him to take on that challenge, he’s ready to do it. Dricus will be looking forward to fighting Strickland. Because he's the fighter in his division who can be a potential threat to his title. Strickland and his coach would like to exact revenge for the previous loss to Du Plessis.
