Luka Modric Not Ready to Hangup Boots Yet: Eyes 2026 World Cup

In a few weeks, Real Madrid captain Luka Modric will turn 39 and will become the oldest player to have represented the Spanish club, surpassing the previous record held by Ferenc Puskas. Even at an age when many players have retired, Modric continues to excel, playing regularly for one of the world’s top clubs and also for the Croatian national team.

After UEFA Euro 2024 this summer, there were speculations about Modric retiring from international duty with Croatia. However, according to AS, the Real Madrid captain has no intention of reducing his international involvement. Modric reportedly aspires to play in the FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America.

This announcement follows the veteran superstar being selected for Croatia’s squad for the September international break, where they will face Portugal and Poland in the UEFA Nations League.
