“Happy Gilmore” aficionados have reason to put down their golf clubs and pick up a tub of popcorn because production for the long-awaited sequel, “Happy Gilmore 2,” has officially started production. Director Dennis Dugan takes the helm on this film starring Adam Sandler, who returns to his iconic role as the wannabe hockey player turned golfer.
Adam Sandler Returns to the Green
This second movie aims to keep the originals charm that had fans laughing out of their seats 30 years ago. The original “Happy Gilmore” was a slapstick sports comedy and followed an ice hockey player, Happy, played by Adam Sandler. Happy’s unorthodox style of golf humorously takes over the sport by storm and wins him the 1996 championship which leads to a lot of heartfelt moments as well. The announcement of Happy Gilmore’s return to the big screen has audiences sending a wave of excitement through the internet. This sequel is set to film scenes in many New Jersey Counties like, Somerset, Essex, Bergen, Morris, and Monmouth. Keeping old cast members was a strategy Adam Sandler used in order to instill a nostalgic feel to the film.
