New York Giants QB Daniel Jones Has Fatal Flaw

Daniel Jones is facing a crucial season for the New York Giants in 2024 after a disappointing season last year, to say the least. After leading the Giants to their first playoff appearance since 2016 and playoff win since winning the Super Bowl in 2012, Daniel Jones' season did not pan out well in 2023.

The former sixth overall pick, who received a new contract worth $160 million for four years, missed 11 games with a neck injury and torn ACL which saw his season be cut short. Now as he enters his sixth season in the NFL, the Giants are hoping for much better results out of their quarterback. He hopes to play a full regular season for just the second time in his career. But in a study that was conducted by Pro Football Focus that identifies every starting quarterback's flaw in the NFL, Jones's flaw is something of concern. What did they discover?

Daniel Jones' Weakness Should Worry Team

In Pro Football Focus's evaluation of all 32 starting quarterback's biggest flaws entering this season, Daniel Jones's flaw is something that no quarterback should have, especially when you're making nearly $40 million a year. That flaw is accuracy. John Kosko of Pro Football Focus came out with that startling flaw that he thinks the New York Giants signal-caller has and his words and evaluation of Jones are something to take note of with the start of the regular season on the horizon.

"Accuracy proved an issue, as he had a 29.3% catchable inaccurate rate, a 52.4% accurate rate, and an 8.8% pinpoint accuracy rate. All were the worst marks in the NFL," Kosko said.

These marks are concerning for the Giants as they're looking to avoid another 1o-plus loss season for the third time in the last four years. Having a catchable inaccurate rate and an accurate rate and pinpoint accuracy rate are are worst in the league. This should put Jones on notice this season. After having a season where despite playing just six games in 2023, he still had just two touchdowns to six interceptions. So, could you blame PFF for sharply criticizing him?

This Criticism Puts Pressure On Jones

Looking at these numbers and the criticism that is being attached to Daniel Jones, this season is a make-or-break year for him. He is not off to a great start in 2024. In his first live game action since that torn ACL, he suffered last November, Jones was rusty and simply made some bad throws.

From throwing a pick-six in the first quarter of the Giants loss to the Houston Texans on Saturday, followed by another interception in that same game as well, these turnovers are quite simply problematic for Daniel Jones. The Giants signal-caller is on a short leash in New York in 2024 as he has an out in his contract after this season. If Daniel Jones does not prove Pro Football Focus' criticism of him wrong, he may be on the way out of New York sooner rather than later.
