The Miami Dolphins are playing in their last preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday, August 23rd. The Dolphins have played two solid preseason games coming into this matchup, while the Buccaneers split their preseason games. They beat the Cincinnati Bengals and lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Miami Dolphins will be without their starters in this last game. Tampa Bay's Head Coach Todd Bowles said most of their starters will play in the last preseason game. However, he was not specific about Baker Mayfield's playing time. Generally, the last preseason games are for teams to make their final cuts on players who will not make the final 53-man roster for this upcoming NFL season.

    Key Stats

    Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins backup quarterback Skylar Thompson is 16-34, 156 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in the last two games played. Thompson has been nothing spectacular in those games as it indicates that the Dolphins need to search for a better QB2. Chris Brooks, the Miami Dolphins running back is leading the team with over 100-yards rushing.

However, running back Jaylen Wright has only played in one preseason game due to an undisclosed injury. Wright has had 10 carries, 55 yards and a touchdown. He has shown Miami he is a solid running back.

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not seen Baker Mayfield this preseason. According to Todd Bowles, Baker might play some series in this last preseason outing. So far quarterback Kyle Trask has had a solid preseason for the Bucs. He is 24-39, 252 yards with 1TD and 1 INT.

His passer rating for the preseason is 63.2%. Sean Tucker leads the Bucs in rushing yards with 100 yards on 14 carries. The team leader in receiving yards is wide receiver Cody Thompson. Thompson has been great for the Buccaneers. He has eight receptions, 92 yards and 1 touchdown.

    Prediction

Both the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are evenly matched in this last preseason game. Both teams for the most part will play second and third string players to see who will make the 53-man roster.

The Buccaneers are favored in this matchup by three points. Sometimes it is hard to make a clear prediction with so many rookies playing. The odds are not much with the Dolphins at (+135) and the Buccaneers at (-155). The Miami Dolphins will come into Tampa and get the job done despite Tampa Bay being favored by three points.

    Final Pick

    Miami Dolphins (+135)
