The Minnesota Lynx vs. Las Vegas Aces matchup on Friday night completes a home-and-home series on Friday night at Target Center. Two-time defending WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces suffered their 10th loss of the season earlier this week falling at home to Minnesota, 98-87. The Lynx invaded Michelob ULTRA Arena establishing a first-half lead the visitors would never relinquish. Las Vegas saw their record drop to 17-10 while slipping to third place in the Western Conference. Minnesota tops the Western Conference with a 20-8 mark and riding a 4-game winning streak on a celebratory flight back home.

Following Wednesday’s contests, both squads traveled 1,299 miles north to Minneapolis, Minnesota to run it back tonight at Target Center. With under a month remaining in the WNBA regular season, every clash becomes equally important as teams fight for critical playoff positioning.

Minnesota Lynx vs. Las Vegas Aces Preview

Earlier this week, Minnesota’s head coach Cheryl Reeve frustrated A’ja Wilson during her 33 minutes on the court. Wilson finished 7-14 from the floor for 15 points and 9 points. Minnesota will be looking to do the same again on Friday night. Aces guards Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum featured for a combined 46 points. Minnesota will be seeking consistency once again scoring a win with all starters in double-digits in the points column against Las Vegas. Napheesa Collier and Courtney Williams each posted over 20 points as the Lynx starters outlasted the Aces starters to capture the 98-87 win on Wednesday.

Las Vegas will play 4-out-of-5 games away from the desert to finish August with matchups in Chicago Sky, Dallas Wings, and Phoenix Mercury upcoming on the schedule. It is a heavy road finish for the Aces with 9 road contests remaining compared to only 4 remaining home dates.

With three games in the books already this season, Friday night’s game represents the fourth and final matchup in the regular season between the Las Vegas Aces and Minnesota Lynx. The Minnesota Lynx lead the season series, 2-1.

Minnesota Lynx vs. Las Vegas Aces Head-to-Head

At the end of May, Las Vegas won the first games of the season series 80-66. A’ja Wilson had 29 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks—the first WNBA player in regular season history to have 20-plus points and 10-plus rebounds in five straight games. Jackie Young scored 19 points with 10 rebounds.

A few weeks later, Minnesota scored their revenge with a 100-86 win over their own in Las Vegas. It was a balanced effort for Minny as all 5 starters reached double figures in scoring for the Lynx. The loss dropped the Aces to a 5-5 record. Las Vegas would regain their Championship form winning 11 of their next 13 games after this loss to the Minnesota Lynx.

As described in more detail above, Minnesota scored the 98-87 win during the midweek matchup in Las Vegas.

Minnesota Lynx vs. Las Vegas Aces Starting Five

Both teams will be looking to present the same starting units as we saw earlier this week during the game in Las Vegas. For the Las Vegas Aces, guards Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum will be joined by Chelsea Gray, A’ja Wilson, and Kiah Stokes. Minnesota is expected to present guards Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride alongside front-court starters Napheesa Collier, Alanna Smith, and Bridget Carleton.
