Danny Garcia Ready to Conquer Erislandy Lara’s Slick Style in WBA Title

Danny Garcia is ready to have a tussle in the boxing ring with Erislandy Lara for the WBA middleweight title in the upcoming month. His opponent Lara is known for an aggressive style which makes him a formidable challenge for his opponents. Although he is a former lineal junior welterweight champion and welterweight title holder, due to his past performance he is confident against Lara. However, his opponent’s tricky styles count him as one of the top boxers in the welterweight division.

Lara vs. Garcia is Now Scheduled for Sept 14

Danny Garcia is due to fight Lara for the WBA middleweight title on September 14 as part of the undercard of perhaps the most hotly anticipated fight card. Even though Erislandy Lara is a difficult fighter and very skilled, he believes in himself and the chance to put the right strategy into effect, he stated that

He’s definitely skilled, Garcia said. Every fighter’s skilled in different ways. Amir Khan was a hell of a talent. Keith Thurman was a hell of a talent. Zab Judah was very skillful. I think Zab is probably the hardest style to beat for my style. But as far as southpaws, I feel like I do a great job with southpaws – but he definitely is skillful. I’m definitely the best fighter he’s fought in a long time, also.

Danny Garcia’s Return to the Ring

This upcoming fight is his first fight in the last two years, his last appearance in the ring was against Jose Benavidez where he emerged as a winner against him in July 2022 in the junior middleweight division. As per Danny Garcia, Lara is the most challenging opponent since his battle with the unified welterweight titleholder Errol Spence Jr in December 2020. At the age of 36 is eager to demonstrate that he has not lost his touch as he will fight a skilled and experienced fighter this time.

This is evident with the 41-year-old Erislandy Lara who has had a relatively easy time. In 2019, he fought against Brian Castono which was split to a draw. Since then, Lara has gone on a rampage defeating Ramon Alvarez in 2 rounds, outpointing Greg Vendetti, and scoring stoppage wins over Thomas La Manna, Gary O’Sullivan, and Michael Zerafa. However, Lara cannot boast of an unbeaten record like Danny Garcia and the latter is confident he will beat the Mexican.

Southpaw Specialist

Predictably, Danny Garcia does not seem too worried about his outrightly labeling Lara as a southpaw saying that it is not the first time he has faced a southpaw of this caliber and that he has had his fair share of overcoming southpaw opponents during his career. He dwelled on his past fights with great opponents such as Amir Khan, Keith Thurman, and Zab Judah, in all of the opponents, Judah was a tough fighter for him.

Lara has always been seen as a tricky fighter to crack and so the fight is on the brink of being very fierce with him determined to show that he can conquer over the tricky Lara to land himself yet another belt in his career.
