In the main event of AEW All In 2024, Bryan Danielson was able to force Swerve Strickland to submit in the main event for the AEW World Championship. This is the first championship that Bryan Danielson has held in All Elite Wrestling and the show ended on a major moment. Let's take a deeper dive into what this means for Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland going forward as both men put on a classic match that is going to be remembered for a long time.

What does winning the AEW World Champion mean for Bryan Danielson?

After making the stipulation for his match at AEW All In 2024 title vs. career, Bryan Danielson was putting his legendary career on the line for this match. Danielson had his wife Brie and children at ringside for this match as well and it was a classic Bryan Danielson match as he fought from behind and showcased why he is one of the best wrestlers in the history of professional wrestling. Surprisingly, this is the first championship he has held since being the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion with Rowan in 2019, meaning until today he never held a title in All Elite Wrestling.

Having Danielson win this match extends his career a bit more as well as gives Tony Khan and AEW the ability to have the lineage of their major title including "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson. While this does not need to be a lengthy title reign, there are a few challengers already in the works. Darby Allin will be competing for the title at AEW Grand Slam while Christian Cage won the Casino Gauntlet match earlier in the show for a future shot at the AEW World Championship. Now, the Blackpool Combat Club hold the AEW Championship and World Trios Titles.

How will Swerve Strickland's AEW World Championship reign be remembered?

Swerve Strickland's AEW World Championship reign is one of the best that the company has seen as many people expected him to be a transitional champion after defeating Samoa Joe. Instead, he went on and had a massive run as he defeated the following wrestlers in title matches during his reign:

    • Claudio Castagnoli
    • Christian Cage
    • Roderick Strong
    • Will Ospreay

However, that does not tell us the entire story as Swerve Strickland dominated and significantly increased his stock as he is now elevated as a main event guy for a long time. With "Hangman" Adam Page coming through the crowd during the match, it appears that the story between them is going to continue and keep Swerve Strickland away from the AEW World Championship. Either way, he is cemented as a top guy for AEW for years to come.
