Florida Panthers Defenseman Dmitry Kulikov brought the Stanley Cup to youth hockey players at the Baptist Health IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday. The Panthers have been a hockey team since 1993 and have made the Finals three times winning the Stanley Cup this past season.

Dmitry Kulikov Brings Stanley Cup To Fort Lauderdale

The Stanley Cup has traveled all around the world and has gone to three different countries in the last two months since June when the Panthers won the Stanley Cup. All of the players and coaching staff have brought the Cup to their hometowns, family, and friends. It has been a historic summer for the Panthers showing off the hardware to fans.

When Kulikov walked into the Baptist IcePlex there was nothing but cheers from all the kids that play hockey. Kulikov said: "It's unbelievable to see so many young hockey players, giving them the chance to see the Cup and hopefully inspire them to work hard and strive for your dreams." Kulikov said in a video interview he had everything planned in his head on how the event would go but the young players just wanted to stand near the Cup and touch it. He said "it was great....I couldn't be happier to bring this beautiful trophy and share it with the young hockey players."

Kulikov was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the first round of the 2009 NHL Draft. He played for the Panthers from 2009-2016 when he was traded to the Buffalo Sabres and then bounced around the NHL to Winnipeg, New Jersey, Edmonton, Minnesota, Anaheim, and then Pittsburgh before being traded back to the Panthers for the 2023-2024 season. Now Kulikov is a Stanley Cup champion with the team that originally drafted him.

In the 2023-2024 season back in Florida Kulikov had one goal, 19 assists, 20 points, and was a +/-15 in the regular season. He was a big part of the Panthers defense to help them in the playoffs and Stanley Cup Final.

    Final Thoughts

It is a dream come true for the Florida Panthers winning the Stanley Cup but also the fact that they have been able to enjoy one of the greatest trophies in all of sports and share it with the South Florida community. It is also exciting for kids to see what can happen when hard work and dedication come together. Players have said that winning the Cup, something most players do not ever get to do in their careers changes your life. It is one of the hardest trophies in sports to win.
