Jellystone is Modern Hanna-Barbera Goodness
Jellystone is about the characters of Hanna-Barbera going about their lives in the titular community. Many have been re-imagined and given roles that benefit their small town. For example, Yogi, Boo Boo, and Cindy are medical personnel at the local hospital. And some characters like Jabberjaw and Augie Doggie were gender swapped for balance. Many episodes range from slice-of-life scenarios to cartoonish chaos escapades. These situations include Doggie Daddy having separation anxiety and Yogi Bear becoming an eating machine.
Jellystone is the first Hanna-Barbera cartoon since the closure of the Hanna-Barbera studios. It is also the first series without William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The show's concept came to C.H. Greenblatt while working on Hanna-Barbera shorts. He soon became inspired to combine the characters into a single universe. But now, another animated universe will be colliding with the residents of Jellystone.
The Big Jellystone Crossover
"Crisis on Infinite Mirths," the crossover special of Jellystone, will bring in Cartoon Network stars. Some come from shows like The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, and Adventure Time. The plot is unknown, but the Jellystone citizens will get into wacky situations. Thanks to characters like Mojo Jojo, Billy, Lazlo, Ed, and Chowder running around. Including them, at least 60 Cartoon Network characters will be in the special. There has been confirmation that their voice actors will return to reprise these roles.
On July 28 at San Diego Comic-Con, a panel discussion for the Jellystone special was held. There was even a clip featuring Mojo and Cindy having a moment. The segment also showed other Cartoon Network characters falling from a portal. Before Comic-Con, Maxwell Atoms shared an animatic sketch of Billy from The Grim Adventures. The character was eating some Jellystone pie, though his role in the special is unclear. One can only imagine the zany misadventures that could occur during this universal clash.
A Treat for Cartoon Network Lovers
The special's lineup of characters will evoke nostalgia for Cartoon Network fans. The network mentioned above has produced many cult classic shows that have gained massive followings. Some consider them superior when compared to some of the programs broadcasting today. The Jellystone special will attract these fans so they can witness their beloved characters return. Of course, some skeptics worry that this series will ruin them. They will find out once it premieres at a currently unannounced release date.
