The double Moto2 and Moto3 world champion, Marc Marquez has been helping moto3 sensation David Alonso to hone his skills as the Colombian youngster extends his dominance into 2024. With the recent dominance by pole-sitter and points leader, who will move up to Moto2 next year, his guidance will be quite timely. The two riders rode together recently on production bikes, and he said, he had plans to explain how it feels to race at maximum level to him before the Aragon Grand Prix.

Recently the two trained with production bikes, an experience that helped Alonso learn from Marc Marquez, a MotoGP legend. The conversation was recorded by DAZN last weekend during the photo shoot at Red Bull Ring and he described the pressures of racing.

He once again seems unsure of the stress related to racing though he seems to get confused when it comes to handling feelings in the last lap. Marc Marquez comforted him by saying, “Of course, you get pissed off, but it’s normal, it’s good to get pissed off.”

The recent training session at the Aspar circuit in Spain let Alonso profit directly from Marc Marquez’s experience in a race. Besides Marc Marquez, other personalities of the session include Alex Marquez, Ortola, Jaume Masia, and Red Bull Rookies Cup rider Maximo Quiles. This chance enabled him to gain practical experience and advice from other experienced MotoGP riders.

As for Moto3, coming into the Aragon Grand Prix, Alonso is in line for his eighth win of the season. He making his debut last year didn’t get to race at Aragon due to the track’s exclusion from last year’s calendar, however, he has prior experience at the venue. He achieved victory at the same place in the 2020 Red Bull Rookies Cup and he had the achievement for two podiums in the same years of 2020 and 2021 which helped him gain recognition in the racing world.

Another interesting area that we see as potential in the Aragon round is his continued performance and the role of mentorship of Marquez. Alonso’s remarkable performances and the leadership of the Moto3 classification demonstrate his capabilities and next year, he will move to Moto2 to join the Aspar team.
