The Detroit Lions have signed former Denver Broncos Wide Receiver Tim Patrick. This news came Tuesday evening after the 4 o'clock deadline to cut the roster from 90 players down to 53. Detroit had limited their roster to 52 players leaving one spot to fill. How will Patrick fare with his new squad?

Tim Patrick Signs With The Lions

According to Adam Schefter, the Detroit Lions have agreed to a deal with former Denver Broncos Wide Receiver Tim Patrick. Lions coaching staff has been looking for a WR3 to step up during the preseason. Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell came out publicly challenging his receiver room to step up to fill the role. Patrick is expected to sign a deal to join the practice squad in the hope of filling that role as Jared Goff's third wide receiver option.

Tim Patrick's Stats

Tim Patrick spent four seasons in Denver from 2018-2021. He racked in 143 catches, over 2,000 career yards, and got into the end zone for 12 touchdowns. Patrick hasn't played on an NFL roster since the 2021 season but looks to be a veteran in a young wide receiver room for the Lions. Patrick will join the receiving core of Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Kalif Raymond.

The move was made after the team's roster cuts today. Detroit has put some effort into filling a need the coaching staff and fans have had concerns about. Is Tim Patrick the answer? He is probably not the candidate fans were thinking of or necessarily the one they wanted. He will get an opportunity in a high-flying offense with a great offensive line, a productive quarterback, an explosive running back duo, and a group of talented receivers.
