Dana White States Conor McGregor Will Not Fight in 2024

Conor McGregor has been out of the Octagon for almost three years. He has been posting about his return that whole time, but it has not happened yet. As a result of this, his fans are upset, and they no longer take his words seriously.

With the rise and fall of McGregor’s career, it seems even more challenging to expect him to fight Michael Chandler this year. In McGregor’s latest Instagram stories, he posted training videos as usual, but this time using a rather unique hashtag, #FreeTheMac.

    Hint to Quit UFC

Due to this post, McGregor has made many people argue that he might be seeking to retire from UFC as he is asking UFC CEO Dana White to finish his UFC contract. The targeted fight date between the Irish fighter and Chandler, which was set to happen for the second time after a previously failed date would likely be the second to last bout on his current UFC contract. Scheduling a title fight could raise doubts about McGregor vs. Chandler happening at the event since a title fight hasn’t been on the same card as a McGregor match since UFC 196 in 2016.

    Announcement from Dana White

A little over a week ago, White said in front of the media that McGregor would not fight in 2024. Posting on his X account, the Notorious replied to the statement of White and wanted fans to ask him to make McGregor vs Chandler happen in a December fight, which he later deleted. The two fighters were expected to clash after both served as coaches of The Ultimate Fighter season 31 last year, though no fight was scheduled for the rest of 2023.

White eventually took action to have it happen after UFC 300 with a beefed-up event—UFC 303, which took place in June. However, a press conference that was supposed to have taken place in Dublin the day before, the match was surprisingly called off. The reason for the postponement was the revelation that McGregor had a toe injury, and because of that, he was trolled a lot by fans and the fighters.

    Final Thoughts

If McGregor continues to post such statements, then it will be impossible for Conor vs. Chandler to happen. He is looking forward to focusing his time on his businesses, which he has built up through the years of his break from UFC. His businesses have reached millions of worth in these past years. So, the return of McGregor seems unlikely. What are your thoughts on Conor McGregor vs. Chandler? Let us know in the comment section.
