Harry Kane Wins the European Golden Shoe Award

Harry Kane had finished his season in the Bundesliga as the highest goal scorer having scored 36 goals. However, Bayern Munich finished third in the Bundesliga which was Below expectations. The German side also failed to win any trophy that season which has been over 10 years since it happened.

In the Champions League, they were ousted by Real Madrid in the semifinals, after a late double goal from Joselu. It was a disappointing end for Bayern Munich and Harry Kane. However, the Englishman has now been rewarded for all his efforts last season. Kane was able to win the European Football Golden Shoe award for his 36 goals. His number of goals was ranked the highest in all of Europe’s top leagues.

Harry Kane has received the Golden Shoe award in European football for the 23/24 season campaign. The Bayern Munich and England’s Captain was able to rack up 36 goals during his first season in the Bundesliga. Winning this award made him the first English forward to secure the award after Kevin Philips in the year 2000

The Englishman was also the Bayern Munich player to secure the Golden Boot after Robert Lewandoski and also Bayern’s legend Gerd Muller. The two had also won the awards twice as Bayern Munich players.

Harry Kane expresses his Joy at the Award

He expressed his gratitude over the award and he said at the ceremony that it was a great feeling. Harry Kane said: “It’s a fantastic feeling. I can only thank the club and my teammates. The award is for everyone – without you, I wouldn’t be standing here.”

The award was invented in the 1967-68 season. The Golden Shoe was initially given to the highest goal scorer in any league in Europe. In 1997 the rules were amended. The rules were now centered on the highly reckoned leagues. This rule uses a ranking format.

Lionel Messi as it stands has won the award the highest number of times Messi was able to win it 6 times. Cristiano Ronaldo has also won it 4 times. Erling Haaland also won it the season before Kane won his. Kane continued to express his heart on the award. He added, “It is something special that I am now mentioned in the same breath as these names.” The English Captain was able to average a goal every 79 minutes in the Bundesliga last season. However, Bayern Munich failed to win any trophy that season. And this has been the first time since 2012.

Harry Kane is Hopeful of Winning Trophies

Harry Kane had his views on winning trophies during his German Cup game against Ulm. During the game, he was able to score a goal in stoppage time. In the end, Bayern won 4-0. After the magic, he stated, “I want to continue as I started last season, but it is important to win titles. We want to achieve success as a team. I feel very good and am looking forward to the new season. I sense a new energy and I’m looking forward to seeing where it leads.”
