Carlo Ancelotti Calls Mbappe ‘Humble’ Despite Goal Drought
2024-08-28
Carlo Ancelotti has spoken concerning Kylian Mbappe’s challenges in the past two La Liga games. Real Madrid started their La Liga campaign against Mallorca. They traveled to Mallorca in their first game of the season. It was expected with the addition of Kylian Mbappe to the team, coupled with other players Madrid will have a cakewalk. However, it was different as Mallorca held the visitors to 1 all-draw and their lone goal came from Rodrygo.
Their next game against Valladolid had a similar outlook as they couldn’t find a goal until a sublime free-kick goal from Valverde in the 50th minute paved away. Late in the 2nd half, Madrid was able to find their second and third from Brahim Diaz and Endrick. Kylian Mbappe had been quiet in those two games, but Carlo Ancelotti has come out to defend the Frenchman speaking about his humility and patience.
Carlo Ancelotti on Mbappe
Real Madrid coach was asked if a “drought” for Mbappe was worrisome. Ancelotti reminded when Mbappe’s last goal was, which was on August 14 for the UEFA Super Cup. He said: “It’s only been two weeks! It’s not a prudent time to worry. Neither for us, nor him. He wants to score, that’s clear. And he will.”
Ancelotti said that the Frenchman was “progressing” and “works with humility” alongside his adaption which is “going well”.
Carlo Ancelotti continued saying: “And [also] because of Rodrygo, Vinicius… we have a lot of resources. We have scored six goals and the team is not yet at its best. That says a lot. We will never have problems with goals, you can see that,”
Carlo Ancelotti Shocked at Marc Bernal’s Injury
Carlo Ancelotti had experienced similar challenges, as at a point he had lost the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao, and David Alaba to long-term injuries. He was able to empathize with Hansi Flick over Marc Bernal’s ACL being that his player had faced such challenges before.
The Real Madrid coach said: “injuries at this stage of the season are what makes things the most complicated”. He continued saying “It’s what happens when the schedule is too tight and there’s no time to prepare. You have to choose between work or vacation. And when the vacation ends, 10-11 months of work come. It’s a lot. In August the intensity is [at the] maximum and you don’t have the proper preparation. It’s a problem for everyone… and it’s sad. Very [sad]. I want to face the best players.”
Ancelotti on Barca Registration Controversy
Ancelotti refused to talk about the topic surrounding the controversy of Barcelona’s registering Dani Olmo. Real Madrid TV had called the issue a “sea of filth” in a “third world competition”, this was spoken after Dani Olmo scored Barca’s winner against Rayo Vallecano in the same game Marc Bernal was injured.
Carlo Ancelotti said: “It’s a question for La Liga, we respect all clubs,” Ancelotti stated.
Dani Olmo scored his first goal in La Liga in his debut for Barcelona against Rayo Vallecano. However, Kylian Mbappe is yet to score his and will be hoping he can find the net in Madrid’s battle against Las Palmas on Thursday.
