Fall is almost here which means the hot days of summer will soon be gone and instead replaced with colorful leaves littering the ground, pumpkin-spiced drinks, longer nights, and cooler temperatures. Cooler temps and longer nights don't just mean staying inside but also having more time for video games. If you're not sure what games to play or are just looking to get into the Fall spirit, you should look into giving these games a try.

Night In The Woods

Night In The Woods takes place in the Fall in the small town of Possum Springs. The game tells the story of a cat named Mae who has quit college and moved back home. The reason Mae left is due to her mental illness which got worse while at college. Having been gone for a year, Mae arrives home to a changed Possum Springs. The town's mine closed and small businesses are closing down which is hurting the city. On top of all this, Mae and her friends have to also deal with a cult.

The Fall setting really help show off the game's unique art style. The game gives off a cozy atmosphere as Mae explores Possum Springs in the Fall. Leaves litter the sidewalk and street and people wear sweaters and jackets. The town feels lived in with each character feeling like an actual person. If you're looking for a game to play this Fall, Night In The Woods should be on your list.

Alan Wake

Released in 2010, Alan Wake is the first game in Remedy's Connected Universe. The game is set in September in Bright Falls, where Alan and Alice Wake are vacationing. The small town of Bright Falls is getting ready to celebrate its annual Deerfest event. Alan Wake has a Fall feel as the leaves are changing color, and it gets dark around five PM. Setting the game during the Fall was a good move on Remedy's part. In a game where darkness is the enemy, Alan needs to appreciate every hour the sun is up.

The game does a good job of making nighttime feel horrific while making the daytime feel safe and somewhat cozy. The few times Alan gets to explore in the daytime is a real treat. Considering the game is set in Washington(state)in September. It's easy to imagine how cold Alan is each night during the game. If you're looking for a horror-action game to play this Fall. Alan Wake should for sure be on the menu.

Coffee Talk

While horror games are fun to play during the Fall/Spooky season. It's the cozy games that stand out for me during the season. Coffee Talk is set in an alternate version of Seattle between September and October. You play as a barista who serves warm drinks and listens to their customer's stories during the game. Some of those customers consist of elves, orcs, and merfolk, among others. It's easy to imagine people coming into your coffee shop to order a hot drink and escape the cold. If you love cozy games, Coffee Talk should be on your radar this Fall.
