Li Tu won the Hearts of Fans but Lost to Carlos Alcaraz

Li Tun, the Australian tennis player lost to Carlos Alcaraz in their first round at US Open, but he won the fans by showing his mother in an interview. He showed his respect and care for her before she passed away. For the sake of her happiness, he scheduled his wedding early so that she could enjoy the last moments of her life. Tun was very respectful to every opponent, whether it was Jesper de Jong from the Netherlands or if it was Carlos Alcaraz.

Li Tu Appreciating Carlos Alcaraz

Li Tu was shocked to see the form of Carlos Alcaraz. Before the match, they went to have a toss, where Alcaraz took off his jacket, letting Tu see his muscles. Tu said, "We go to the coin toss, and he took his jacket off. And I was like, Dude, this guy’s a specimen. I just couldn’t stop looking at his shoulder definition and the veins. And the forehand says it. I mean, he’s got some serious, serious weaponry."

Like many other players, Li Tu also played and he did that wonderfully but the thing that made the fans love him was his respect and love for his mother. His mother was battling lung cancer and he saw a decline in her health. For his mother, he changed the date of his wedding and moved it up so that his mother could enjoy it. And after a week she passed away September 24 at 3 a.m. leaving Tu with her memories. Li Tu will make sure his mother will not be forgotten.

Respect For Other Players

The respect of Tu is not only limited to her mother but his respect and humor were shown even when he found out about Alcaraz. He found out about his match against Alcaraz in the most unexpected way. He found out from a message on Instagram he received from a fan, saying that he is going to have Alcaraz coming up next. "I got a random message on Instagram from a fan who’s been watching all my matches, saying, and I quote, ‘Li, your opponent is Carlos Alcaraz. And I just read it, and I was like, ‘No way.'" Tu said that with respect and care for Alcaraz.

Li Tu is a role model for every player to respect everyone, especially the parents and the opponents they face. Losing in a match does not decrease the value of a player but disrespecting others does. Li Tu is the perfect example of winning the hearts of fans not by winning in the match but by showing love and respect toward others.
