SmackDown Preview: WWE Bashing it Overseas | 8/28/2024

SmackDown will be broadcast from the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany for the first time. WWE will hold Saturday’s Bash in Berlin in the same arena, but first, we have SmackDown bringing two announced title matches for the second consecutive week. Things are about to rowdy in Berlin!

LA Knight ‘Re-igKnighting’ Tradition?

After his decisive win over Santos Escobar last week defending the US Championship, LA Knight issued an open challenge for the belt for this week’s SmackDown. Reminiscent of when John Cena held the title and issued a call to any challenger week after week, it looks like Knight could perhaps reignite that tradition. SmackDown could answer this as we will see what direction WWE wants to go. Will Knight defeat multiple challengers, albeit making them look good in the process, or will this be the beginning of a title program with a particular superstar?

Queen in the Streets

Michin, the latest challenger to Nia Jax’s WWE Women’s championship has perhaps looked stronger against Nia Jax than anyone this year. Friday night a streetfight is going to leave one of these two superstars wrecked, as anything goes. Michin has already unleashed a Kendo stick on Jax before, and we will likely see one being utilized by Michin in this championship match since pretty much anything goes. The challenger has a real chance to dethrone the queen due to the stipulation, so Jax although favored better be cautious. “Tiffy Time” could be here sooner than later, too.

Carmelo and Andrade…will the Feud End Tonight?

Last week Andrade busted into Carmelo Hayes’s barbershop smack talk session. These two superstars have a heated little rivalry going, although as we have mentioned previously, Andrade is up in the series. Andrade’s wins have looked a little more certain, as Hayes’s only fall was quick, and he just barely had Andrade pinned. However, the in-ring athleticism and move sets between the two have been highly entertaining. We will be in for a treat again when these two match up. Something tells me that SmackDown’s creative team is going to expand on this feud because somehow it still feels new.

Other Surprises

Surely there will be involvement on the show from the likes of Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens to sew the final seeds in the story for the Undisputed WWE Championship match to take place the following night at the Bash in Berlin PLE. Could The Bloodline make an appearance? Will any matches be added to Bash in Berlin? Tune in to WWE SmackDown on Friday and enjoy!
