Ty Johnson’s Role in Buffalo

Ty Johnson comes to the Bills with a ton of experience from his time with the Detroit Lions and New York Jets. Although this is his 2nd season with the Bills, this could be a big one.

With the departure of Diggs, while QB Josh Allen finds his passing groove once again and builds chemistry with his WRs, a big part of the responsibilities could befall RB James Cook and RB2 Ty Johnson to share the load.

Johnson’s play is known for speed, elusiveness, and agility. He perfectly complements Cook´s power-rushing style with a finer approach. His duties however will involve rotation for Cook as well as handling some play action and designed targets, such as screen passes.

What makes Johnson someone worth considering is the fact that he is underrated and secondly, he has a habit of making big plays. He’s the kind of player who can offer a spark for the offense whenever needed, and that´s great for fantasy production.

Johnson´s potential greatly relies on the amount of action he´ll see on the field. A lot of participation could bring a lot of points, while little action, produces no points.

Ty Johnson has had a journeyman career, however, he has managed to greatly help the teams he´s played for. In 2022, according to ProFootballReference, he ran for 160 yards and 1TD with the Jets.

In 2023, his role in Buffalo was cut short due to injury. In the 10 games he started, he ran for 132 yards and no TDs.

However, things could be better for the RB in 2024, with new offensive ideas it´s up to him to claim a sport where he can shine.
