    Ty Chandler 2024 Fantasy Outlook

In his third season with the Minnesota Vikings, Ty Chandler is looking to prove he's more than an RB2. The former fifth round pick in 2022 hasn't gotten much opportunity in his career. However, with increased trust from coaches, Chandler looks to showcase his explosiveness in 2024.

Chandler will undoubtedly have to battle with newly signed Aaron Jones for touches to start the season. Health will play a key role in determining how the competition shakes out. Can he hold him out? Let's dive in to why he can do just that, and more.

    Ty Chandler 2023 Output

Ty Chandler saw a nice uptick in touches in 2023 after primarily playing special teams in 2022. With Alexander Mattison struggling, and Cam Akers lost for the season, Chandler finally got his chance.

He finished 43rd at his position with 80 fantasy points and averaged 5 points per game. He accumulated 461 yards on the ground averaging 4.5 yards per carry while finding the endzone just 3 times. He also added 21 catches for 159 yards with zero touchdowns in 17 games.

    Ty Chandler's Role In 2024

Chandler could be in line for a breakout season in 2024. ESPN's Dan Graziano reports the Vikings will use a "1A, 1B approach, splitting touches with Aaron Jones. With Jones set to turn 30 this year, Chandler's speed and burst are what this rushing attack needs. The emphasis on the run game will be crucial for the success of this offense in 2024.

Chandler will have plenty of opportunity to shine being surrounded by weapons in Minnesota. According to Pro Football Network, he is projected to rush for 601 yards and add 3 touchdowns on the ground. Projections also have him contributing 44 catches for 333 yards. Plan on snagging him in the later rounds of fantasy drafts as a possible handcuff with Aaron Jones.

    Final Thoughts

Kevin O'Connell and the Vikings have a lot to look forward to with Ty Chandler. Chandler's success could spring him into the starting role in 2024 and beyond. A combination of talent and opportunity this season could put a jolt into an offense already loaded with talent. New quarterback Sam Darnold will look to lean on Chandler and the run game to take some pressure off of himself.

In a difficult NFC North, expectations for the Vikings are not as enthusiastic as past seasons. This season could leave more questions than answers when all is said and done. With many doubting the Vikings, playing with a chip on their shoulder can spark optimism in 2024. Chandler will look to prove this year is a stepping stone into a bright future and hopefully a fortified role in 2025.
