Capcom is saying goodbye to one of its shining stars. Hideaki Itsuno is stepping away from the company after 30 years of helping bring beloved gaming experiences into players' lives. He made the announcement of his departure on social media. The general response to that announcement has been nothing short of supportive. Fans of the games he made a reality are also saddened by the news and rightfully so. Itsuno's talented legacy at Capcom is filled with success. His future ventures are likely to meet just as much fanfare.

    The Legacy of Hideaki Itsuno

What Itsuno is most well known for is his tremendous work of leading the production of two beloved game series at Capcom. He served as the director for nearly every title in the Devil May Cry series. The exceptions are the first game and the 2013 remake, which was developed by Ninja Theory. As a whole, the main series has been able to sell over 30 million copies. With Itsuno's departure from Capcom, some loyal fans of the series are worried for its future. Currently, there is no confirmation that the game will even happen.

Itsuno also helped bring us both of the Dragon's Dogma games, serving as director during their productions as well. With the success of the first game, Itsuno made a giant footprint in the land of high-fantasy RPGs. It's a genre that at the time included Dragon Age: Origins, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the early Baldur's Gate games, and more. With Dragon's Dogma 2, the series only saw more success since it helped get the IP to over 10 million sold copies. Just like with the Devil May Cry series, the future of a potential of this one is also in question.

    Plans For the Future

Although fans of Itsuno's games are saddened by his decision, all is not lost. In his farewell message, he also announced his plans for the future. He stated that he is already working on a new game. He also shared his hopes of creating beautiful games that may even surpass his previous ones. While no one is quite sure what this game will be or if it's a new IP, there is little doubt that it will be short of amazing. It'll be something that fans of Itsuno's work should keep a close eye on.

    Conclusion

It's a definite fact that Capcom is losing a giant in the world of video game creation. Itsuno's hard work, including the projects beyond his two most popular series, is an inspiration. Fans of his games look up to him, and that's been made quite clear by the response his goodbye message has received. Thankfully, they will have the chance to love the future experiences he brings to the world. Although he is no longer working with Capcom, Hideaki Itsuno is a name that will forever be marked as a crucial part of the company's long history.
