Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov Firest back at each Other

Belal Muhammad is now the new Welterweight Champion, and as a division champion, he has to accept the challenge of the No.1 contender, Shavkat Rakhmonov. Rakhmonov, who has 18 wins professionally and six in the UFC, was recently offered a fight with Muhammad for UFC 307 in October. However, the Welterweight champion declined the challenge, and the reason for not accepting was timing. Muhammad believes he’s not ready for the fight but will soon be.

Suggestion from Belal Muhammad

Muhammad told the No.1 contender that he’s currently inactive. But he suggested Rakhmonov find a better contender for himself. Usman is also in their division, and if he wants the title, he should first fight Usman and them after the Title. Muhammad also pointed out that Rakhmonov has not fought in the Octagon since 2023, and if he wants the title shot, he should first fight other potential contenders. But that doesn’t become a barrier to scheduling a fight.

On the other hand, Rakhmonov is still undefeated with 18 wins. Rakhmonov has worked his way to deserve a shot at the championship. There is also a possibility that the UFC welterweight Champion will fight Kamaru. Usman is the former UFC welterweight champion who held the belt for over two years while also having five successful title defenses; thus, past accomplishments and experiences benefit him.

Reply from Shavkat Rakhmonov

Shavkat Rakhmonov does not support the idea of Muhammad. He believes Muhammad didn’t fight for 14 months before getting in the Octagon against the Welterweight Champion, Leon Edwards. “Do you have a case of selective memory, or did you just forget that you didn’t fight for 14 months before challenging for the belt?” Replying to that, Belal also didn’t hold back and targeted him with a post on ‘X’. “Selective memory? Who’s tweeting for you bro there’s no translation for that in Kazakh.”

Lately, Muhammad concluded that these two will fight in the cage, writing in his tweet that the UFC is only concerned about making this fight happen next. But the welterweight champion would not let Rakhmonov get the last word and immediately countered by saying he was unsure if he was even talking with the real Rakhmonov.

Final Thoughts

This fight will be much more interesting than the fight between Muhammad and Edwards because Rakhmonov is the undisputed fighter and the Welterweight Champion training with the Dagistani beasts.
