Victor Osimhen and Napoli in Talks with Galatasaray

Reports from Italy suggest that Napoli is negotiating a loan move for Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray, though they would need to cover part of his wages. Osimhen has fallen out of favour in Naples after unsuccessful deadline talks with Al-Ahli and Chelsea failed to reach a satisfactory agreement.

Napoli’s director Giovanni Manna and coach Antonio Conte have confirmed that Osimhen will not be reintegrated into the squad, as he had initially sought an exit. Although the transfer deadline has passed in Italy and much of Europe, some transfer windows, particularly in Turkey, are still open.

Galatasaray is now one of the few remaining options for Victor Osimhen. According to Sky Sport Italia and Corriere dello Sport, Napoli is negotiating a loan move to Galatasaray but would likely need to cover a significant portion of his 10 million euros annual salary. Another possibility is for Galatasaray to handle Osimhen’s wages but not pay a loan fee.

The Turkish transfer window remains open until September 13, giving them ample time to finalize a deal. With limited alternatives other than leaving the striker sidelined for the next six months. RMC Sport in France reports that Osimhen has already agreed to the move, and it’s now up to the clubs to finalize the arrangement.

Galatasaray is seeking a new centre-forward position following a serious injury to former Inter striker Mauro Icardi, who will be out for at least a month. The challenge for Osimhen is now to find a club to play in, considering he adapts the playing style and also has a key role in the squad.

Victor Osimhen's Role at Galatasaray

Osimhen's move to Galatasaray was confirmed by Napoli boss and former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte who said that the striker was no longer part of the Serie A club's plans. With Osimhen not in Napoli's plans and seemingly heading for the exit door, the deal may give Chelsea encouragement to sign the striker in the future.

Osimhen is a right-footed centre-forward who significantly impacts the opposition’s penalty area with his strong presence. He scores in various ways and is proficient with both feet and his head. His combination of strength and well-timed movements makes him a formidable threat near the goal.

He has excellent jumping ability, allowing him to outmuscle his opponent in aerial duels, and he can either powerfully head the ball or direct a cross accurately towards the goal. Additionally, he stays vigilant to capitalize on second-phase balls in the penalty area, ready to take advantage of mistakes, deflections, or rebounds.
