As a result, we see Peppino go from being a shy restaurant owner to a fearsome warrior. He embarks on a quest to defeat food-themed foes and bosses, explore treacherous dungeons riddled with traps and puzzles, and take back the recipe that's rightfully his right before putting an end to Pizza Tower once and for all.

Despite its wacky story and simple art, the game is celebrated for being one of the best platforming experiences to date. Players can dash through enemies, climb walls at terrifying speeds, and use a wide range of abilities to battle monsters and destroy structures of all kinds. There are various gimmicks that players can take advantage of, such as riding food monsters, transforming into different objects, or gaining the use of new skills to apply during battle and exploration.
