Ex-India Coach Declares Great Virat Kohli 'From Another Planet'

The former India fielding coach, R Sridhar, has said that Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli is not from Earth since he is still amazed by the almost unbelievable feats the player can accomplish. “He is from a different planet. I kept asking him sometimes when I was with the team. ‘Have you had Kryptonite or something?’

He always replied with a smile. ‘Are you from Krypton? You’re surely not from Earth’ Where does this energy come from? And he’ll always smile. It’s unbelievable. What an inspiration.” Anubhav Talks is where Sridhar shared his opinions. The seven arduous years Sridhar spent in the Indian dressing room alongside Virat Kohli were instrumental in the significant advancements in fielding and fitness standards in India.

Kohli’s Fiery Response

Among the innumerable qualities that make Virat Kohli the formidable man he is, Sridhar focused on how crucial it is to avoid taking him on. In the 2024 Indian Premier League, Kohli was criticized for having a poor strike rate, and the great Sunil Gavaskar expressed doubts about his strategy. With five fifty-score runs and a century, he finished the season with over 741 runs scored. It’s not as though Kohli needs to be questioned.

Also, the former Indian fielding coach emphasized Virat Kohli’s ability to perform well under pressure, particularly when he faces criticism or mocked by others. Sridhar went on to say that Kohli excels in such circumstances that opponents avoid irritating him. He stated that opposing teams frequently choose to let Kohli play his game rather than interact with him, knowing that any confrontation may result in the right-hander dominating the match so thoroughly that they would struggle to recover.

Virat Kohli most recently appeared in a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, in which the Men in Blue lost 0-2 to the hosts. He will now play in the forthcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which begins September 19 in Chennai.
