Dana White Reacts To Alex Pereira vs Dricus du Plessis

Dana White fully supports the idea of Alex Pereira cutting weight and coming down the division to fight Dricus du Plessis. Pereira who is famously known for shouting his signature word, "Shama" with the style of holding a box and arrow, will be fighting Khalil Rountree. Alex Pereira has fought big champions like Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya, but until now he has only lost twice in the Octagon including a loss against Israel Adesanya.

Other than those blemishes he has dominated the other 11 fights. While Alex Pereira is happy to fight Rountree he is serious about cutting the weight to challenge the Welterweight Champion because he has defeated the fighter who defeated Pereira, so that would be an interesting fight to watch.

Dana White's Appreciation

The fighters who dominate the fights and most importantly do not dodge the fight and accept every challenge that they receive are the ones who succeed in the fighting business. Alex Pereira is the best example of such a fighter and that is the exact reason that the CEO of UFC Dana White loves Pereira and his never-die attitude:

“My take on him is he’s f*cking nasty. That’s my take on him. He wants to move up, he wants to move down. That’s why people love him. Those are the type of fighters people love. Pereira wants to fight everybody. I love it.”

Alex Pereira used to face challenges in the process of cutting weight in the middleweight division so he moved up the ladder and started fighting the Light Heavyweight Division, so it became easy for him to maintain the weight criteria and focus on the fight more.

Dana White About Fighter's Retirement

Dana White didn’t say that this is something that the UFC is currently looking at doing and while he may have considered the idea he is currently at least open to the think about. Alex Pereira would look out for a green light from White to start cutting weight. For Pereira perhaps the time is running out.

He has now hit the age of 37, had a long kickboxing career before he signed for the UFC, and may not have many years of quality fighting left in him. Because of that, the fight between Pereira and du Plessis is not guaranteed unless the UFC moves fast. White contends they do not want to make stupid decisions on the fight decision for Pereira.

Possible Outcome

There odds are higher for Alex Pereira vs Dricus du Plessis to happen because Dana White has already shown positive remarks on that and if he's positive then most of the problem is solved. The only problem that remains is that Dricus might not accept the fight because he wasn't positive about it the last time, he wanted to move up the division instead of having Pereira come down.
