Concerns Over Mike Tyson’s Fitness for Upcoming Fight

The World Boxing News (WBN) reached out to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) after Mike Tyson had to be treated by paramedics during a flight in May. This health complication is the reason the fight between Mike Tyson and the YouTuber Paul was moved from July to November as he fully heals. However, concerns have risen regarding Tyson’s fitness to fight and the status of his license for the rescheduled fight.

Mike Tyson’s License and Health Concerns

Despite the health scare in May, Mike Tyson was granted a professional boxing license by the TDLR recently, and no re-evaluation of his condition has taken place since. This has occasioned some worry, much more so since he is 58 years old, and recently was ailing in some way.

However, there are concerns about his fitness and license for the upcoming fight. Mange confirmed that although Mike Tyson was licensed in May there would be no other health exam other than the pre-fight one on the 14th of November.

WBN insisted on getting more guarantees that he was going to be subjected to many rigorous tests as he was 58 and had a lot of ailments. The manager said while there was a pre-fight medical examination set for the fight, there were no other proposed re-classification or additional tests pending at the time. But she added that he can have more procedures regarding his health issues before getting into a fight against Jake Paul.

Many critics in the professional boxing circle have decried Mike Tyson’s candidature in the fight as being venturesome. It is troubling that his license will have been valid for seven months without additional health tests. Any sport at his age poses significant risks. Evander Holyfield who was in his fifties got back in the ring to fight Vitor Belfort, In that fight, Holyfield was knocked down early in the ring.

In Holyfield’s case, his punch resistance, which was never an issue in his professional career, had diminished due to age. This raises fears that Mike Tyson could face similar challenges against a much younger opponent, risking injury or worse.
