Jayson Tatum is the highest-rated player on the Celtics and the cover athlete of this year’s NBA2k. Coming off a season averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game, Tatum has asserted himself as one of the best two-way players in the NBA. While his shooting percentages were not up to his usual standard in the playoffs, Tatum was still one of the best players on the court for the Celtics, making an impact with his passing and defense. He finished the season sixth in MVP voting, with his third consecutive All-NBA First Team selection.

Jaylen Brown (92 Overall)

Jaylen Brown, coming off his Finals MVP, is the second highest-rated player on the Celtics. While people still debate who is better between Tatum and Brown, the developers at NBA2k believe there’s a 3 overall difference between them. Jaylen Brown is motivated heading into the 2024-25 season, as he did not make an All-NBA Team or the Team USA roster. We will see if this motivation leads to his rating increasing.

Jrue Holiday (87 Overall)

Jrue Holiday was an excellent addition to the Boston Celtics in the 2023-24 season and playoff run. Everyone knew about Holiday’s excellent perimeter defense, as he has one of the highest defensive ratings in the game. But Holiday also contributed greatly in the playoffs, making all of the little plays, like cutting to the basket, making the extra pass, or getting a clutch steal.

Kristaps Porzingis (87 Overall)

Kristaps Porzingis will miss time at the start of the 2024-25 season, but when healthy, Porzingis can change the entire landscape of a basketball game. This was evident in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, where on restricted minutes, Porzingis took over. Health will be the biggest factor for him in the 2024-25 season, but if he can get healthy, and more importantly, stay healthy for an entire playoff run, his impact will be felt.

Derrick White (86 Overall)

Derrick White is the lowest-rated of the Celtics starters, but that speaks more to the talent of the team than it discredits White. Derrick White was also integral to the Celtics playoff run, with multiple games where he caught fire from beyond the arc. He had an excellent series against the Miami Heat in the first round and hit a corner three to seal the sweep against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. White is an excellent two-way guard and one of the most important pieces to this Celtics team.

Xavier Tillman Sr. (74 Overall)

The one standout among the Celtics bench players is Al Horford at an 80 overall. Horford started for most of the playoffs with Kristaps Porzingis out and will likely start with Porzingis out to start the season.
