Ice Spice and Cleotrapa Drama Explained

Rapper Ice Spice has been having a rough few weeks. Recently, amid her first solo tour, she has been facing allegations from a former friend about poor treatment. This isn’t the first time that the Bronx rapper has been in hot water for being a bad friend, nor is it the first time she’s had an issue with another rapper. Still, something about this situation has been different for Ice Spice, and she’s lost thousands of followers because of it.

Ice Spice’s Tour

The drama began when New York-based rapper Cleotrapa took to TikTok and told the story of her and Ice Spice’s falling out in six videos. Each TikTok video was about ten minutes long and went into great detail from start to finish about what occurred on the tour that left the two friends at odds. Cleotrapa claims that Ice Spice invited her to accompany her on tour. Because it was last minute and Cleo is an independent artist, she said that she told Spice that she was unable to join the tour because she couldn’t make proper plans. According to Cleo, Spice offered to take care of everything.

Cleo also claimed that she had only one day to prepare for the tour and was told by Spice that she wasn’t allowed to bring anybody with her. The drama began almost immediately when Cleo expressed her need for some kind of assistance with taking her luggage to and from the venue. “Now what I didn’t know, which I later learned after bringing up everything I went through to her, I learned that this situation where I said something about my bags was the reason why I got mistreated the entire tour after that,” Cleo said in her TikTok series.

This was only the beginning of the problems between the two. Cleotrapa claims that Ice Spice kicked her out of their shared hotel room and put Cleo’s purse outside, which led to her debit card getting stolen, and that Ice Spice generally treated her horribly. She also alleged that during a time when she and two other people on the team felt unsafe going out by themselves to get food, Ice Spice treated the rest of her team to a steakhouse dinner, excluding Cleo. She feels this was also done as a punishment from Spice.

Ice Spice’s Response

Ice Spice hasn’t denied the allegations but has taken the tone that Cleotrapa was making a big deal out of nothing. She also feels that Cleo was behaving in an entitled way and shouldn’t have expected so much from her for the tour. Cleo says the only reason she did expect certain things, like assistance and hotel accommodation, was because Ice Spice said she would provide it.

Spice took to X Spaces to vent her frustrations with her fans. Her lack of denial of the allegations gave fans a bad taste, and because of this drama, she has lost over half a million followers in only two weeks. This was the second incident this year of Ice Spice being a bad friend. That, coupled with her leaked messages disparaging Nicki Minaj, had the Queens rapper’s fans turn against Spice, and now Cleo’s allegations might just be fans’ last straw. While some artists’ fanbase might not care about their fave being a bad friend, it’s clear that Spice has cultivated an audience that does.

Conclusion

A half-million followers will not severely impact the Bronx rapper; she still has over eleven million followers on Instagram. However, the number of people who have gone through the trouble of unfollowing Ice Spice andthe rapid timeline in which it happened does send a message. People seem to want a genuine statement from Spice, not just the jokes and trolling comments she’s made so far about the situation. With support for her falling and support for Cleotrapa rising, if Spice doesn’t handle this from a true PR standpoint, it could have severe negative repercussions.
