Report: Green Bay Packers Showing Interest Veteran Quarterback After Jordan Love Injury

The Green Bay Packers got good news with Jordan Love’s knee. It is an MCL strain scheduled to keep him out for three to six weeks. While this is good news, the bad news is the team has a massive hole at quarterback now. They traded for Malik Willis but he has not impressed so far in his NFL tenure. If the Packers are going to stay in the playoff race, they have to win some games over the next month. A recent report indicated the Green Bay Packers have already reached out to veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Green Bay Packers Reach Out To QB Ryan Tannehill

According to The Athletic’s Diana Russini, the Green Bay Packers have reached out to the former Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins quarterback. Ryan Tannehill is reportedly interested in joining a team, but it would have to be “the right situation.” There might not be a better situation than the Packers. They are oozing with offensive weapons and have a solid offensive line. Jayden Reed had a huge game on Friday. Christian Watson and Dontayvion Wicks are no slouches. Josh Jacobs rebounded after a rough first half against the Eagles.

It is unclear whether the Packers will actually make a signing at quarterback. Outside of Willis, the Green Bay Packers have second-year player Sean Clifford, who was with the team last season. He already knows the offense but struggled mightily in the preseason. In addition, the team had seventh-round rookie out of Tulane, Michael Pratt, play significant snaps during the preseason. The team has options, but it is the job of the staff to figure out what is best.

    Season Outlook After Love Injury

The season isn’t over for the Green Bay Packers. However, how they perform in the next month will determine how difficult the path to the playoffs will be. If the team can win one or two games, it would do wonders to help them make a playoff push late in the season. Since the NFL added the additional wild card team a few years ago, a slow start doesn’t doom a team. The Packers themselves did this last year. They started out slow but went on a winning streak late and nabbed the seventh seed in the NFC. They might have to do it again next year.

It will be interesting to see what direction the Green Bay Packers go in the next week. If they are going to sign a veteran like Ryan Tannehill, they will need to do it quickly. The player will need time to learn the offense and get on the same page with the receivers. Stay tuned for more news on this situation as it develops.
