Jayden Daniels 2024 Dynasty Outlook

The Washington Commanders selected LSU's Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and now he will enter the NFL season as the starting quarterback. He'll enter Week 1 with all the confidence in the world but will still be a rookie learning in the process. The Washington Commanders were ready to go with another rookie.

The past couple of QBs have been backup quarterbacks to starters like Taylor Heinicke and seasoned pros like Carson Wentz and Alex Smith. While they did okay, respectively, they were still not the best fit for the Commanders' offense. The franchise is hoping to start again with a clean canvas at the QB spot. The last time they went with a rookie QB starter, they were on their way to a playoff game in 2012 against the Seattle Seahawks.

In his final year at LSU, Daniels completed 236 for 3,812 with a 72% Quarterback Rating. On the running side of the house, in his final two seasons at LSU overall, he had 321 carries, 2,019 yards, and 21 touchdowns.

It's also important to note his ability to be accurate past 10 yards. The Commanders, when drafted, highlighted how he was the best quarterback in college football on passes of at least 20 yards. He earned a 99.2 grade from Pro Football Focus in 2023 and threw 27 impressive deep passes. In other words, he's not scared to throw downfield.

Jayden Daniels Dynasty Outlook For 2024

Daniels gave a sneak peek of what's to come in their first preseason game against the Jets, driving the team 70 yards in 11 plays for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead. Daniels' big moment was a 42-yard pass to Dyami Brown down the right sideline on the third play of the game. This would lead to Daniels eventually taking it into the endzone thanks to a good zone read.

Can he keep this momentum going into Week 1? Will he be the second coming of Robert Griffin III? Even though Daniels is a rookie, it should be noted that he has some key players like Terry McLaurin and Dyami Brown as targets. More importantly, he also has the seasoned veteran experience of Zach Ertz for the Tight End position.

To understand that connection more clearly, Ertz is 6-5, 250 pounds. He's been in the league for 12 years, playing last season for the Arizona Cardinals. Last season he started in seven games and caught 27 for 187 yards and one touchdown. Daniels has all the support he needs to succeed.

Jayden Daniels Dynasty Value

Daniels will enter the 2024 NFL Season a Sleeper for Fantasy Owners. While Fantasy Experts are expecting Daniels not to change his performance as he begins his NFL career, Daniels' ADP is still 109. Even against a seasoned Quarterback like Baker Mayfield, he's expected to perform at the average and keep up. Daniels' value is bottom floor and will be determined by Sunday's game on whether he's slept on the entire season, or soars in value in the weeks to come.

If you're looking to risk it all on a rookie QB1, then your choice is Jayden Daniels. He will enter Week 1 with a seasoned WR, TE, and RB1 to depend on, along with some possible rookie surprises along the way. It's expected that head coach Dan Quinn will try and see early how the Bucs will respond to the passing game.

Last season, the Bucs' defense ranked 29th against the pass but ranked in the top 10 against the rush, so expect Daniels to air it out and not take many risks with his legs. If you don't trust Daniels because he's a rookie and are expecting rookie mistakes, fine. However, trust his support. He's a promising addition to your fantasy rosters that has yet to hit his ceiling.
