Mauricio Pochettino Officially Named USMNT Manager

Mauricio Pochettino has been officially announced as United States Men’s National Team manager. The Argentine and Former Tottenham Hotspur coach is set to lead the US to the 2026 World Cup on its home soil. Mauricio Pochettino has spoken after the appointment. He fully expressed his Joy. The former Chelsea man said he wants to “achieve something truly historic” in his first job coaching a nation. The Argentine had left his role as Chelsea’s coach last season after a mutual agreement with the owners. The United States is expected to host the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico. The World Cup is expected to be the Biggest ever of its kind.

The Argentine was enthusiastic about his new role. As he stated he was ready to lead the team to greater heights.

He said: “The decision to join U.S. Soccer wasn’t just about football for me; it’s about the journey that this team and this country are on, The energy, the passion, and the hunger to achieve something truly historic here — those are the things that inspired me. The opportunity to lead the U.S. Men’s National Team, in front of fans who are just as passionate as the players, is something I couldn’t pass up.”

He also spoke about the Players saying: “I see a group of players full of talent and potential, and together, we’re going to build something special that the whole nation can be proud of.”

Matt Crocker on Pochettino

The Former Chelsea Manager took the job of the USMNT manager after Gregg Berhalter was sacked, during the Copa America tournament which the US hosted. The USMNT failed to go beyond the group stage. U.S. Soccer Sporting Director Matt

Crocker spoke about Pochettino after his appointment. He said: “Mauricio is a serial winner with a deep passion for player development and a proven ability to build cohesive and competitive teams, His track record speaks for itself, and I am confident that he is the right choice to harness the immense potential within our talented squad. We are thrilled to have Mauricio on board as we embark on this exciting journey to achieve success on the global stage.”

Pochettino who helped Chelsea reach the Carabao Cup final last season, after which he lost to Liverpool will be hoping he can achieve something great with USMNT,

USMNT in the 2026 World Cup

The 2026 World Cup is expected to be the biggest of its kind. The tournament has now been enlarged from a 32-man team to a 48 man. It’s expected to take place in 3 countries, the name of United States, Canada, and Mexico. The USMNT got to the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after which they were evicted by the Netherlands. However, they haven’t gotten past the quarterfinals since 1930. During the 1930 World Cup, they finished third.
