David Datro Fofana was one of several Chelsea players left in limbo when the transfer window closed nearly two weeks ago, forced to train with the rest of the squad’s outcasts. Fofana is a senior Ivory Coast international, despite never having played for any of the youth teams. The 21-year-old’s move is still pending final paperwork and a medical, with the Greek transfer window closing Wednesday night. Talks, which started after August 30, saw a breakthrough after AEK took the lead once transfer windows across the top five leagues had closed. The Blues originally signed David Datro Fofana from Molde in January 2023 for £8.4m.
