The USA Network will again host SmackDown on Friday nights, starting on September 13th, 2024. The season premiere episode event will be held from the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, and will air at 8 PM ET on their new home network. The show is already gaining hype and buzz, as it will treat the fans to a rubber match between two evenly gifted superstars, a tag team bout that includes a mystery partner, and a steel cage war for the Undisputed WWE title!
USA Network Features a Huge Return of SmackDown
The last time that the blue brand was shown on USA Network was a run from 2016 to 2019, before moving to Fox. WWE President Nick Khan made the deal last year, working with NBC Universal, the parent company of USA Network. In doing so, Khan has made USA Network the temporary exclusive home to WWE programming. Raw has a short-term deal to remain on USA Network before it moves to Netflix, and NXT will also remain before it moves to CW. The moves for the two shows will happen at the beginning of 2025.
WWE understands the importance of coming home to USA Network and is celebrating the return by giving us three potentially great matches. Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa in a steel cage for the Undisputed WWE Championship being shown on network television says it all! Roman Reigns has been teased as well and is prominently featured on all of the new SmackDown promo artwork. Reigns is announced to appear, but what will we see from the original tribal chief? Will he interfere in the main event?
Andrade vs Carmelo Hayes part 5
We’ll call this an extended series rubber match for a possible number one contender status to LA Knight’s United States Championship. Each wrestler has two wins on the other. WWE has not announced the stipulation officially but after last week’s encounter with the megastar, it could be inevitable that the winner of this one will be awarded a shot at Knight. Andrade and Hayes are elevating their status by having multiple fantastic matches in this rivalry, and either one of them is a contender right now. The winner would make it a definite. The match-up should be a banger and expect Knight to get involved in some way, likely from the announcers’ desk.
Kevin Owens to Employ Mystery Partner
Kevin Owens was victorious over both members of A-Town Down in a triple-threat match last week. Owens, however, got the A-Town Down beatdown after his victory. A-Town Down later expressed they want Owens and a partner of his choosing for this week’s premiere episode on the USA Network. You know Owens wants massive payback on Grayson Waller and Austin Theory and is extremely angry. Will he select a partner who can help him exact revenge in a way that will satisfy his thirst for vengeance? Orton, perhaps?
