CSU Rams vs. Colorado Buffs: Rocky Showdown Sep. 14th

This 2024 season, Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders has made many promises about revamping the Colorado Buffaloes’ offensive and defensive performance. However, many NCAA football analysts have noticed that Colorado’s offensive and defensive performance has not changed much, if at all, since last year. After an L against their fellow Big-12 rival Nebraska last week, Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes experienced severe criticism from college football fans on social media. This week, the Buffs battle another rival, the intense in-state Colorado State University, on Saturday, September 14th, 2024. This article offers a report on what to expect from the game.

Will The Colorado Buffaloes Overcome Their Disappointment?

Fox Sports commentator Joel Klatt, one of Colorado’s starting quarterbacks in the 2000s, observed that the Buffs’ defensive and offensive play designs vary little. He believes that’s why they were such an easy win for Nebraska. Many others have scrutinized Colorado for not developing the run game despite promises to do so. Other critics have noted that the offensive line has not been successful. These critics noticed starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders had very little time to make decisions in the pocket and was pressured into a poor performance.

Shedeur threw for 244 passing yards, a single passing touchdown, and one interception. He was sacked seven times. He finished the fight against the Cornhuskers with eight carries and negative 30 rushing yards. Colorado has a short chance at redemption against the less competitive Colorado State. College football analysts predict The Buffs to win and move on to a 2–1 record. However, this victory will not be enough to prove themselves as a top-tier team. Instead, the Buffs will be judged based on their fight against the superior Nebraska. Colorado has a lot of pride riding on this week’s game.

Ralphie Report’s Analyst Ryland Scholes comments on expectations for the CU and CSU game.

Everything hinges on this Colorado State game. As much as I hate to admit it, it’s probably the most important game this program has played in quite some time. Our concerns will be assured or they’ll be bubbling over in just five short days. Go and embarrass little brother to the north and all this talk is for nothing. If that doesn’t happen, the heat’s only going to intensify. We’re about to find out if this team has what it takes.

What To Expect Of Colorado State University Saturday?

CSU head coach, Jay Norvell, spoke on the Rocky Mountain Showdown in a press conference on Monday. He had mostly positive things to say about CU’s top performers and did not speak on Deion Sanders or any of the drama surrounding the team this week.

It’s always a special thing to play in a rivalry game and this is certainly one of those. Our kids know how important it is to play in a game like this.

He provided an analysis of CU’s team.

As far as CU is concerned, very similar to last year in their personality of their team and the strengths of their team. Everything starts with their offense and their quarterback. They’re very, very capable of being very explosive. They have a lot of speed at wide receiver with (Travis) Hunter and (Jimmy) Horn and (LaJohntay) Wester. They mostly attack through the air and everything goes through the quarterback, through (Shedeur) Sanders.

He spoke on Colorado’s defensive coordinator, Robert Livingston.

Defensively, they have a new defensive coordinator, Robert Livingston. (He’s) very experienced, comes from the National Football League. They’ve really built this defense to rush the passer and play man coverage, and that’s what they do. They play a lot of man.

    Conclusion

The Rams will want to expose CU’s repetitive reliance on Shedeur’s arm. Colorado State can bet that CU’s line will be just as porous as last season, but the Buffs can keep the Rams on their toes by adding variety to their play calling. The Rams have some talent in their quarterback slot, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, who manages some clutch plays under pressure such as last year’s second-half comeback against Boise State.
