Draymond Green’s Warning to Paul George

Draymond Green had some opinions on Paul George’s move to the Philadelphia 76ers. Paul George left the Los Angeles Clippers as a free agent to join the Sixers on a four-year contract deal. The six-time All-NBA forward’s deal with the Sixers was a favorable win. Thus, the Philly fans’ hopes are high and optimistic. Without a doubt, Paul George is a better upgrade for Tobias Harris.

Draymond Green expressed his opinion in an interview with NFL reporter, Jordan Schultz. The Golden State Warrior center wished the new Philly star good riddance as he embarked on his new journey. Yet, Draymond stressed that Paul must play well for the franchise. Also, the Sixers fans will “crush” him if he doesn’t play well. Following his former statement, the Warrior Center explained why the Philly fan would crush Paul George.

You know why they’re gonna crush Paul George if he don’t play well there? Because they already got a nasty taste in their mouth from their last three (small forward) that they had with Tobias Harris. They never felt like he brought it, so that’s why. – Draymond Green

Also, Draymond opined that the problem with the “Philly fans are harder on their own team than they are on the opposing team.” In early March 2024, the Sixers lost by a 15-point margin to the Grizzlies. After the match, the Sixers fans booed their players. Also, Tobias Harris featured in the starting line but underperformed. The Philly fans expected Tobias Harris to lead the team in the absence of Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Yet, the small forward failed.

The Philadelphia 76ers have one of the most passionate fan bases in the NBA League. Also, these fans won’t hesitate to talk down on Paul George if he doesn’t perform as expected. Heading into the 2024-25 season, the Philly fans are more concerned about the post-season games and the health of their star players. With all these skill sets amassed during the offseason, the Sixer team should display how good they are on the court, not just on paper.

Will Paul George be a victim of Philly’s raucous fanbase? Yes and No. Yes, because of the uncertainty of Paul’s health. No, because of the skill the All-NBA brings to the table.

When Kawhi Leonard suffered an injury last season, Paul George, coupled with James Harden and Russell Westbrook, could maintain the Clippers’ competitiveness in the league. Also, Paul averaged 22.6 points last season while shooting 47.1% from the floor and 41.3% from downtown. If Paul George is healthy, the Sixers will achieve more next season.
