Fable is an action RPG set in the fictional and beloved land of Albion. It's being developed by Playground Games and will be published by Xbox Game Studios. While many call it Fable 4, it is effectively a reboot of the series. Players will be able to make a name for themselves, good or bad, as they explore all the lands the game has to offer. In true Fable fashion, what little is known about the story shows that there's plenty of humor within the plot. Plenty of action will be seen as well since players will be fighting off a mysterious threat with all the skills they acquire throughout their journeys.

While not much else is really known, there are certain things future players want to see. Under the Xbox Showcase 2024 trailer for the game lies a comment section filled with hopes and speculations. Many of them desire to see true character creation within the game. This is fair since a big part of action RPGs is immersion. Another large desire is the ability to be truly good or truly evil. Prospective players want their choices to matter. If this installment is anything like its predecessors, Fable is bound to be full of simple, hard, or just whacky choices.

Avowed

Avowed is being made by the acclaimed Obsidian Entertainment and is also being published by Xbox Game Studios. This action RPG will take players on an adventure through the Living Lands. They will be investigating rumors of a plague that threatens to devastate everything within its path. Only, just like similar plots, it may not be that simple. The player's choices will forever shape the mysterious island.

It's a game guaranteed to be packed with fantasy, powerful magic, and deep plots that will end with players being rewarded greatly or making a hard-hitting decision. Given what the trailers have shown, Avowed will be a lot darker than Obsidian's other action RPG in development, The Outer Worlds 2. It seems to sacrifice silliness for grittiness. However, there's a chance it will have a bit of both just like Obsidian's only entry in the Fallout games, Fallout: New Vegas. Avowed's current release date is set for February 18, 2025.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Of course, Monster Hunter Wilds can't be left off the list of upcoming action RPGs. It has the potential to be the best-selling game of all time for Capcom's long-running game series. The game will take players on a journey through the ever-changing locales within the Forbidden Lands. They will be tasked with uncovering mysteries, helping others, and hunting giant and dangerous monsters of course. It's bound to be something special for both new and more experienced hunters to enjoy when it eventually releases in 2025.

While this action RPG is still cloaked with plenty of mysteries and uncertainty, future players aren't being left in the dark completely. Thanks to trailers and recorded demos, plentiful information has been provided. So far, five new monsters and two incredible locales have been revealed to be within the game. A cast of colorful NPCs along with a bit of their backstories have been shown off as well. Of course, what's been taking the spotlight recently is all the new mechanics and quality-of-life upgrades, including the removal of gender-locked armor. That's a feature fans have been wanting for a long time and is one of the many reasons why the game has the potential to be something amazing.
