Islam Makhachev Dismisses Merab Dvalishvili’s Weird Claims

Islam Makhachev reacts to Merab Dvalishvili questioning the Russian origin of his teammate Umar Nurmagomedov and rejects the claims of Dvalishvili, and clears the air about the same. In recent videos, Merab stated that Umar Nurmagomedov is not a Russian and this statement grabbed Makhachev’s attention. Dvalishvili is trying to sustain his belt for longer and not lose it against the upcoming biggest Contender of his title, Umar.

However, after the victory of Merab Dvalishvili over Sean O’Malley in UFC Noche was pretty convincing but that’s not something to be convinced by and dodge Umar. Islam Makhachev reacted to the claim and other Dagistanis are yet to react to the headlines created in the MMA world when said, Umar is Dagestani, not Russian, after the UFC 306 event.

At the same time, Merab “The Machine” Dvalishvili essentially handled the work against the ex-bantamweight titlist. The Style of Dvalishvili is a ‘Grappling Style’ and O’Malley has more of a ‘Striking Style’. So a lot of people were expecting Sean O’Malley to have a striking issue for his opponent but Dvalishvili turned his weakness into strength.

Initially, all the rounds were almost equally fought, however, Dvalishvili dominated the fight throughout some rounds. He was even able to execute 12 takedowns in a row effectively dominating his opponent from attempting to defend his title. For the remaining minutes of the fight, O’Malley managed to score two more hits to the opponent’s body but that was insufficient to alter the result.

Islam Makhachev’s Reply to Weird Claims

We all know how weird Dvalishvili is and sometimes he does some stupid things like injuring himself before the fight and kissing the back of O’Malley in the last moments of the fight, however Dvalishvili after he failed to land a head kick, looked in the direction of the kick and tried again and again to execute the kick. However, the things that he did during the climax of the second round overpowered people’s attention. During the grappling with O’Mallely on the fence, Dvalishvili kissed the back of O’Malley’s head a few times which created quite a controversy.

Dvalishvili then let go of O’Malley and explained why he did such an unexpected act, Dvalishvili stated that it was an act of provoking O’Malley. He said the kisses were intended to assert that he was fully in command of the bout. He also talked about Umar Nurmagomedov and claimed that he does not deserve to be here and he is not even Russian to which Islam Makhachev replied, “Merab lives in America. He has no clue what he is talking about. Dagestan is a part of Russia. He is just playing mind games, but I think Umar will answer all the questions inside the cage.”

Final Thoughts

The current bantamweight champion is Dvalishvili, while the challenger, which is already discussed but not confirmed is Umar Nurmagomedov, who has not lost a single fight in UFC. He was caught on the camera laughing from the audience like Dvalishvili was nothing to him during UFC 306.
