Another side sees enhancing its playoff performance as what matters to him. That pressure will tell whether it makes McCarthy to great heights or is a stumbling block. The verdict is still out on that.

Given that McCarthy enters the final year on a four-year contract, his future with the Cowboys hangs entirely upon ensuring that this is the season that culminates in postseason success.
