Week 4 Quarterback Start ‘Em or Sit ’Em

We have officially entered Week 4 of the NFL season, where a lot of parody has been seen throughout the league up to this point, with surprising results everywhere and surprising performances, especially from the quarterbacks each week.

This week, we continue the series on Total Apex on the starts and sits for the quarterback position. Week 4 has some important matchups, including a big NFC East matchup between Dallas and New York, and Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson meet on Sunday Night Football this week. Here are the starts for this week.

Quarterback Must Starts for Week 4

Sam Darnold ($5,900 Draft Kings, $7,300 Fanduel)

Sam Darnold has been one of the major surprises of the NFL season to this point with the Vikings. Darnold has been excellent thus far with the 3-0 Vikings averaging 19 fantasy points on both FanDuel and Draft Kings. Darnold has thrown for a league-leading 8 touchdowns on the season in 3 weeks.

This week, he plays the Green Bay Packers in a huge division matchup and he should be an option to start in your DFS lineups this week. The cost of Draft Kings at $5,900 makes Darnold my Sleeper of the Week.

CJ Stroud ($7,000 Draft Kings, $7,800 FanDuel)

CJ Stroud is coming off a horrendous Week 3, where he only produced 11 fantasy points and threw 2 interceptions against the Vikings in Minnesota. Stroud has averaged 14 points per game this season.

But this is the week to bring CJ Stroud back into your DFS lineups for sure because he plays Jacksonville, who’s been one of the worst pass defenses in the league to this point of the season, and with the weapons that CJ Stroud has, he should be a start and a lock of the week.

Quarterback Must Sits of Week 4

On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in this one.

Trevor Lawerence ($5,700 Draft Kings, $6,900 FanDuel)

Trevor Lawerence has been one of those quarterbacks who have struggled this season for the 0-3 Jaguars. Coming off of throwing an interception against the Buffalo Bills and having a 43 QBR through his first three games, he’s been a terrible option thus far for DFS purposes. Even though Lawerence has a favorable matchup this week against Houston, don’t play him in your DFS lineups this week.

Will Levis ($5,100 Draft Kings, $6,800 FanDuel)

Will Levis is still a huge turnover machine for the Tennessee Titans after last week and he’s been erratic with the football these three games. He’s thrown 5 interceptions this season, with weird lateral plays that cost his team a field goal against the Jets. The Dolphins have been a favorable matchup for quarterbacks this season but Levis won’t take advantage of it on Monday night.

Lock of Week 4

Kyler Murray ($6,800 Draft Kings, $8,700 FanDuel)

But the actual Lock of the Week for Week 4 is Kyler Murray against the worst pass defense of 2024, the Washington Commanders. Murray has been stellar, averaging 19 fantasy points on both platforms. Murray has thrown for 635 yards and 5 touchdowns this season and has been dynamic with his feet as well.

Fade of Week 4

Anthony Richardson ($6,300 Draft Kings, $7,500 FanDuel)

After a strong Week 1 performance, Anthony Richardson has struggled the last two weeks fantasy and this week he’s going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers and TJ Watt. This is the fade of the week for Week 4, as Richardson has thrown 6 interceptions this season and he’ll at least throw another interception against the Steelers. The talent is there but the Steelers matchup will create a lot of problems for Richardson this week.

Final Thoughts

These picks speak to the parody and surprises that we have seen thus far into the 2024 season. I could’ve put Jayden Daniels against the Cardinals after his performance on Monday night, as well as the usuals in Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and Dak Prescott in the starts this week because they have favorable matchups this week.
