However, from Ten Hag’s words, they were ‘Complacent’, leading to an equalizer from Twente to draw the game. Ruud Gullit on his own part blames the manager instead of the team. The Dutch legend criticized Ten Hag for his poor tactics and lack of cordial relationship with his boys.

The Former Dutch legend revealed his verdict on the team’s display. He criticized his compatriot for lacking enough tactical prowess to handle the team. And so far he is running out of patience for him.

There is still no recognizable playing style in terms of pressing and building up. Gullit on Ten Hag’s Relationship with the Team

The Dutchman also noted how his compatriot related with his players. He gave an instance of a moment when Garnacho was told to come on. Gullit spoke that the players were already growing weary of the Dutchman.

He said: “He wanted to have a meeting with Garnacho, but he (Garnacho) didn’t feel like it at all, Garnacho was preparing to come on and Ten Hag kept talking to him. You can just see it when a player thinks: “Leave me alone, man!”. As a coach, you also see things happening that just don’t go well, I also saw [Ruud] van Nistelrooy constantly in the picture. He wasn’t happy. Even Casemiro got involved. You could see that things just weren’t going well. Am I shocked by the football? No, because I see this every week. I think Twente played sensibly. That is also the criticism of Ten Hag, that there is nothing recognizable (about United’s style of play).”

He finally added: “I feel bad for him because I also want him to succeed. But he brings it on himself. You could see that they (Twente) gained a bit more confidence after a cautious start to the match. At some point, you have to give them a little test and they did that well.”
