Ranking The Absolute Hardest Bosses In Minecraft 2024

Minecraft is one of the world’s biggest video games just behind Tetris. Not including pirated copies of the game, this blocky sandbox-survival has sold over 300 million copies worldwide. In the gaming world, bosses are the bread and butter of progression in many titles. From special loot to unlocking new areas, game bosses serve as an important goal for players to defeat. Minecraft’s bosses prove challenging to many, but which ones are the hardest to defeat overall?

#3: The Ravager

The Ravager might be an unexpected addition to this list for some, but oftentimes, players forget just how formidable this foe is. These large, tanky beasts spawn after wave three of a Raid and have 100 total health (50 hearts). For comparison, this is the same amount of health as an Iron Golem, and it is half the total health of the Ender Dragon. Ravagers barrel toward players, Villagers, Wandering Traders, and Iron Golems with incredible speed. They destroy most blocks in their path of pursuit, making Ravagers a frightening opponent. Ravagers do formidable damage, but they have a major weakness. Blocking its bite attack with a shield will stun the beast for a few seconds.

#2: The Wither

Minecraft’s penultimate hardest boss has to go to the Wither. Again, this boss is highly destructive, so do not spawn it near your base or valuables. The Wither is constructed by the player using four Soul Sand/Soil and three Wither Skeleton Skulls. Once awakened, the Wither has two stages. In its first stage, it takes damage from all sources. However, once it reaches its second stage, arrows and tridents reflect off of it, forcing the player to use melee. In Bedrock, the Wither has a whopping 600 health (300 hearts), while in the Java edition of Minecraft, the Wither only has 300 health (150 hearts). Hits taken from the Wither’s attacks inflict the Wither status effect.

#1: The Warden

To no one’s surprise, the Warden takes the crown as Minecraft’s current hardest boss. This creature of the dark is spawned when the player sets off three Skulk Shriekers. The Warden does the most damage out of any mob in Minecraft so far, as it can defeat any foe in a matter of seconds. Although the Warden is blind, its tendrils sense vibrations in the air with extreme accuracy. This boss has melee and ranged attacks in its arsenal, making it a very difficult boss to evade. Even though the Warden doesn’t drop any valuable loot, some players kill it just to see if they can. It's better to just avoid this boss if possible.

For the average player- one who doesn’t have many items and the meta strategies- Minecraft’s bosses prove to be rather difficult. To some, the Warden may even be unkillable in their eyes. With enough preparation and knowing their weaknesses, however, killing these bosses will no longer be a near-impossible task.
