This article will examine the Ohio State wrestling roster, which is large and very good, and discuss its robust schedule.

The Ohio State 2024 Wrestling Schedule

The Ohio State Wrestling schedule is competitive, with great non-conference opponents. The Big Ten Conference is strong, and the Ohio State Wrestling team competes in big tournaments.

Ohio State begins its season on November 3rd with the Clarion Open in Clarion, Pennsylvania. On November 14th, Then they Tennessee Chattanooga at home. On November 17th, Next, they wrestle at Edinboro University. Edinboro always has a sound team. Ohio State wrestling hosts Hofstra University on November 24th.

December starts with the Cliff Keen Invitational, which draws all the top teams to Las Vegas. On December 13th, Ohio State takes on the University of Pittsburgh on the road. On December 21st, they participate in the collegiate dual in Nashville. The Buckeyes will host Oregon State on January 5. After that match, Ohio State will start its Big Ten Conference Schedule. The National Wrestling Championships are in Philadelphia between March 20th and 22nd.

    Sammy Sasso

Sammy Sasso is an accomplished wrestler for Ohio State. He is a 2-time conference champion, and the Big Ten conference has excellent wrestlers. Sasso is a four-time All-American. You can be an All-American by finishing in the top 8 at the National Championships.

He is currently a 5th-year senior who had to redshirt for medical reasons in 2024. He was shot and almost died in an attempted carjacking on August 18, 2023. Over more than a year, Sasso has battled back to be on the Ohio State roster. His story is probably the most inspirational in all sports.

    Tom Ryan

The head Coach of the Ohio State wrestling team is Tom Ryan. Ryan is from Long Island, a hotbed of wrestling. He was an All-American wrestler for the University of Iowa. They were the best team in the nation and have since been usurped for the top spot by Penn State University.

Ryan wrote an autobiography called Chosen Suffering. In it, he tells the story of how the tragic loss of his son led him to find faith and motivation, which he passes on to his players. He gets it and is as tough as nails. Ryan is easy to root for, and it is not surprising that Sammy Sasso fought his way back and wrestles for him.

    Conclusion

Ohio State's wrestling team should be good this year. They have a challenging schedule and many new and returning wrestlers looking for a national championship. It will be hard to root against them with the inspirational stories of wrestler Sammy Sasso and head coach Tom Ryan.
