Warframe's 'Koumei and The 5 Fates' Essential Update

On September 27 at 7 PM PST, Warframe’s Devstream #181 was streamed live at Tokyo Game Show 2024. This Devstream revealed numerous new features coming to the game in the upcoming October update ‘Koumei and the Five Fates’. Heavy with quality-of-life (QOL) changes, this update will bring multiple reworks and fixes to Warframe. Koumei, the 58th Warframe being added to the game, will arrive with a thrilling new Cetus defense mission. Exciting new Warframe: 1999 news also debuted in this 55-minute livestream.

Koumei Is Uniquely RNG-Based

Saya, an Ostron living in the Earth village Cetus, is haunted by visions of the Infested rising from the sea. Koumei offers these prophetic dreams to help the Ostron people defend against the threat. Shrine Defense, a new mission type, will arrive in ‘Koumei and the 5 Fates’. This mission will come with a new resource, Fate Pearls, available to all Tenno. Koumei will be new-player friendly and acquirable fairly early. Offering tributes to Koumei will roll the dice of fate and grant you buffs during the mission. Companion Improvements

On October 18, 2023, Companion Rework 1.0 launched with ‘Abyss of Dagath’. This massive bunch of QOL changes focused on improving companion survivability and bringing stats to a more even playing field. This update also brought the highly-powerful bond mods. In Companion Rework 2.0, multiple changes are coming to bring companions to the forefront of gameplay and boost their useability even further than before. The Smeeta Kavat’s Charm buff is highly controversial within Digital Extremes due to its boringly overpowered gameplay loop. Instead of nerfing Charm, DE made the brilliant move of turning Charm into a universal companion mod.

Companion precepts are also getting updated, tweaked, or reworked entirely depending on how relevant the precepts are. Beyond this, the introduction of beast weapons will bring new modding opportunities. Beast weapons will function the same way as sentinel weapons with a separate modding space for their weapon. Sentinel weapons will also be overhauled. New beast damage mods will also be added to shake up builds. These special weapons will also arrive with a posture mod slot, similar to a Warframe’s aura mod slot. New posture mods will arrive in ‘Koumei and the Five Fates’. Multiple Warframe Reworks Incoming

Companions aren’t the only ones receiving some love in this update. Four Warframes will be receiving reworks and tweaks. Starting with the nerf that everyone is talking about, Wukong will be receiving another set of tweaks to bring him in line with the other Warframes in the game. On the bright side, a long-awaited complete Caliban rework is underway. This rework will formalize the Tau status effect and reinforce Caliban’s Warframe-Sentient hybrid nature. He will also receive a new Deluxe skin and Ephemera. Two other Warframes receiving deluxe skins are Volt and Nova. Nova and Hildryn will be receiving light reworks to improve their usability.

New Warframe: 1999 Info And Closing Thoughts

Many players miss exploring the Hollvania Mall within Warframe: 1999. This mall was shown off during Tennocon 2024, and players could explore the map and characters within it. On October 16, players who have completed the ‘Vor’s Prize’ quest will have access to a short demo mission. Upon playing this mission, the new Protokol Longsword Skin will be rewarded for free. In this demo, expect to interact with members of the Hex, defeat the new Infested enemies, and maybe even encounter Albrecht Entrati himself.
